A family is celebrating the holiday season early for their 9-year-old daughter with stage 4 cancer.

On Oct. 6, Kendra Bird, who has documented her daughter Brie Bird’s cancer journey on Instagram, shared that their family of six would be partaking in Christmas festivities the following day — instead of Dec. 25 — so that Brie could celebrate with the rest of their family.

I want the miracle SO desperately': Family heartbreakingly celebrates Christmas early as 9-year-old battles cancer

“We will be celebrating our last Christmas together, as a family of 6,” wrote Kendra in a post on Instagram, which included a video of their home decked out in festive decorations, including presents lining their fireplace and under their Christmas tree. “I am still in denial. I want the miracle SO desperately.”

Kendra also posted a video shared by the Power of 10 Foundation — an organization that sends care packages and financial support to families experiencing childhood cancer and other rare diseases — of a Santa Claus saying he was “praying for Brie and the entire family.”

The day prior, Kendra shared an update on her daughter’s condition to the account, writing that Brie had received a blood transfusion after she started to look pale and had a small fever.

“We decided to get a blood transfusion so that she can hopefully have some more good days,” wrote Kendra. “This transfusion has already brought down her heart rate, lessened her fever, her oxygen has improved, and we’ve had great conversations!”

Earlier in the week, Kendra posted a family photo, writing in the caption, “September 21st, the last family photo we took where Brielle had the strength to stand. Things took a turn SO quickly. How is it possible that you look back at photos from a week and a half ago, and see a completely different little girl.”

Earlier this year, Brie’s story — which has been followed by nearly 1 million followers on Instagram — caught the attention of pop star Ariana Grande, who gifted her a care package full of Wicked goodies.

“You made this little girl’s dream come true!” wrote Kendra to the Wicked actress. “Thank you for your beautiful, kind, generous heart! We are so grateful! She still can’t believe that you know who she is. So much love to your family!”

In addition to several plush characters based on the iconic film franchise, Grande also included a box of OPI nail polish inspired by the movie-musical, two bold pink zip-up bags, a tote, some makeup from Grande’s beauty brand R.E.M. and a bottle of Grande’s Cloud Perfume.

In a message included in the package, Grande wrote that she had heard about Brie’s love of Wicked and was “inspired to put together this little care package.”

“I’ve seen your videos and I think you are the most amazing, most inspiring little light beam in this universe. You’re just so incredible, so thank you for being you,” the “Thank U, Next” singer continued. “I’m sending you so much love and many, many, many virtual hugs. I hope this makes you smile, and I’ll speak to you soon. Love you.”
