Blake Lively reveals latest ‘Mom Trick’ as she returns to Instagram amid legal battle

The ‘Another Simple Favor’ star shares four children with husband Ryan Reynolds: Olin, 2, Betty, 5, Inez, 8, and James, 10

Blake Lively is sharing a new “mom hack” she turned to during a recent trip with her family.

On Wednesday, March 12, the Gossip Girl alum, 37, shared a 19-photo carousel to her Instagram of pictures of her, her costars and more in Austin, Texas, promoting the comedic-thriller sequel Another Simple Favor at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival. The last photo in the post showed the mom of four in a black bathing suit with a matching cover-up around her waist, donning brown paper bags as shoes.

Lively reposted the photo to her Instagram Stories, detailing the story behind the image.

“Barton Springs Park Bathroom. Your kid forgets their shoes, but you have yours on. So naturally, you given[sic] them yours. Then you mom hack…” she wrote alongside picture of her seemingly holding hands with one of her daughters. “Paper Bags ✅ No Shoes ✅ No Problem ✅.”

Lively shares her four children with husband Ryan Reynolds. Since marrying in 2012, the couple has welcomed three daughters: Betty, 5, Inez, 8, and James, 10. In February 2023, Lively shared that she and Reynolds had quietly welcomed their fourth 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢, son Olin, 2.

Another Simple Favor, which sees Lively and her costar Anna Kendrick reprise their A Simple Favor roles, is Lively’s first movie premiere after her ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni began.

In December, Lively sued her It Ends With Us costar and director Baldoni, accusing him and others of 𝓈ℯ𝓍ual harassment and a retaliatory smear campaign, which he denies. Baldoni countersued Lively, Reynolds and their publicist in January, alleging defamation and extortion.

Although SXSW marks the actress’ first big movie event, she did attend Saturday Night Live‘s 50th anniversary special in February alongside her husband Reynolds, 48.

“Blake felt a bit anxious about attending the SNL anniversary. She still thought it was the perfect opportunity to ease back into the spotlight,” a source told PEOPLE after SNL50 aired. “They had many friends attending, and as soon as they arrived, they received a warm welcome. It was a great event.”

“Blake wouldn’t mind staying out of the spotlight for longer, but she has to get back to work with Anna Kendrick soon anyway,” the insider added, referring to the Another Simple Favor promotional tour. “She feels more ready now. She knows it will be a long year with continued drama, but she’s just trying to focus on the good things. Her family is everything to her.”
