On March 31, a leaked pre-debut video featuring an alternate five-member version of BLACKPINK—dubbed BLACKPINK OT5—surfaced online, sparking widespread fan discussion.
The footage, believed to be part of YG Entertainment’s internal trainee evaluations, includes Miyeon, a former trainee who is now a member of the successful girl group (G)I-DLE.
As the footage circulated online, many fans were quick to highlight Miyeon’s strong vocal abilities, noting that her tone and control stood out during the performance. Supporters argued that, had she debuted with the group, she could have added a fresh and unique dimension to BLACKPINK’s overall sound and musical identity.

However, the response wasn’t entirely one-sided. Some viewers raised concerns about Miyeon’s fit within the group dynamic, questioning whether her stage presence and energy aligned with the chemistry already established among the other members.
In addition to the OT5 video, other leaked clips have stirred controversy, particularly those showing members Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé performing rap covers containing the N-word. While some fans defended the idols, citing their young age at the time and the fact that they were covering existing lyrics, others criticized the lack of cultural awareness and questioned why those songs were chosen in the first place.
These leaks are part of a larger issue currently unfolding, involving an anonymous figure claiming to be a former YG Entertainment employee. Known online as YG Leaker, the individual has threatened to expose further sensitive information about BLACKPINK, YG artists, and even other K-pop agencies, raising tensions within the industry and among fans.
