K-Pop WAR OF WORDS: Legend DEFENDS G-Dragon Against Live Singing Accusations!

Musical Legend Ock Joo-hyun Defends G-Dragon.

G-Dragon successfully wrapped up his solo concert in Korea on March 29 and 30—his first in eight years. But not long after the long-awaited show, some began raising questions about his live vocals.

Then came a voice of support from a legendary first-generation K-pop idol. On March 31, Ock Joo-hyun—renowned musical actress and former member of iconic girl group Fin.K.L—shared a photo from the concert on her social media and wrote:

‘I heard from people who went the day before, so I came prepared like I was dressing for bed. But seeing an artist trying to breathe in this freezing weather for such a long time outdoors… that just broke my heart.’

G-Dragon’s concert took place at an open-roof venue, and despite it being late March, the weather was brutal—strong winds, subzero temperatures, and even a snowfall at one point.

Known for her powerful vocals and stage presence, Ock Joo-hyun empathized deeply with G-Dragon’s struggle onstage.

‘The fact that he had to sing while breathing in such icy air—it just doesn’t make sense,’ she said. ‘I wanted to take the blanket I was sitting on and wrap it around him.’

She didn’t stop there. Sharing a video she filmed herself during the performance, she praised him with affection and admiration:

‘G-Dragon is just everything. The ultimate charm of the universe. I hope he doesn’t get sick from all that frozen air. He was amazing.’

Despite the harsh conditions, G-Dragon completed the concert without issue. On March 30, he was even joined on stage by his fellow BIGBANG members for an encore, teasing the group’s 20th anniversary comeback next year. He also promised fans that he would return to perform in Korea again.

Next, he’s taking his tour across Asia, with stops planned in eight cities across seven countries, including Tokyo (Japan), Bulacan (Philippines), Osaka (Japan), Macau (China), Taipei (Taiwan), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Jakarta (Indonesia), and Hong Kong.

G-Dragon’s return to the stage is already proving to be one of the biggest K-pop events of the year and there’s more to come!
