Dancing with the Stars fans and cast members alike were all stunned by the unexpected elimination at the end of week three’s TikTok night, but a body language expert is revealing no one was more shocked than Brandon Armstrong and Lauren Jauregui themselves.
The Fifth Harmony singer and her pro partner were shockingly cut from the ABC competition show, and the shock was visible around the ballroom.
While the entire night was one that fans felt was “cringy” and designed to “sabotage” the cast, no one seemed to expect the pair to be the ones cut.
This includes Lauren and Brandon, who were clearly devastated and also unprepared to be eliminated.
Speaking on behalf of OLGB, body language expert Inbaal Honigman shared that the pair’s reactions showed they were not expecting to hear their names called.

“Brandon’s response was heartbreaking – he was holding Lauren’s hand to his heart, expecting them to get through. When he heard the news, it was like a gut punch, and he doubled over with the devastation that he was feeling,” Honigman said.
“Lauren’s reaction was the most upsetting to watch because she did nothing,” she added. “She just stood frozen, like a deer caught in the headlights.”
“The news clearly caught her so unprepared that she couldn’t process how to respond to it at all. Her frozen response, along with all the others’ shocked responses, told us that none of them had the slightest inclination that it was coming.”
Honigman also shared that the surprise was evident among the other couples who were at risk of elimination, including Andy Richter and Emma Slater, as well as Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten.

“First of all, Andy and Emma both formed O shapes with their mouths, which showed their obvious surprise. Andy appeared the most shocked out of the two-it was almost like he was trying to gather evidence to support whether or not what we heard was true,” she explained. “At the same time, Emma threw her hands towards her mouth, which covered her shocked face. This was a protective gesture, where she hid her face, not wanting to offend anyone by expressing her surprise so openly.”
She also shared that Elaine was also stunned and seemed as if she “definitely believed it was the end of the road for her,” while Alan was clearly dismayed by the result.
“Her partner Alan had the same reaction, holding his hand to the side questioningly. He mouthed the words ‘what,’ which wasn’t just surprise, it was almost dismay with the injustice that he saw in the outcome.”
The elimination clearly shocked many due to the fact that, while not at the very top of the leaderboard, Jauregui was a consistent performer throughout the competition, earning 6s and 7s for her routines and falling firmly in the middle of the pack.

Fans were also upset that she was eliminated not just over celebrities with lower scores, but also ones who many had expressed disdain for.
Many fans openly questioned on social media after the elimination who was voting for Hilaria Baldwin, as they all felt the same about her being in the competition over Jauregui.
