Jordan Chiles Sparks Debate After Copying Simone Biles’ Lavish ‘Off-Mat’ Lifestyle — Inspiration or Imitation?

Jordan Chiles has frequently drawn inspiration from her Olympic gymnastics teammate and friend Simone Biles, not only in their chosen sport but also in their shared passion for luxury fashion.
Biles, a global icon, recently expressed her desire for a Chanel handbag, showcasing a relatable side beyond her athletic achievement as she took to social media to have a moment of vanity.
“I need itttt… anyone know/have a Chanel rep?” Biles said. She later gushed, “the Chanel 25 is sooooo cute ughhh.”
The item in question, part of Chanel’s Spring-Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection, is described as “washed denim with gold-tone metal,” embodying “movement and freedom” with a bold reinterpretation of the House’s codes.
For Biles, this pursuit of elegance mirrors the precision and ambition she displays in competition and Chiles, equally ambitious, has followed a similar path, indulging in high-end fashion as a reflection of her success.
In an August interview with Marie Claire’s Ariel Baker during the launch of her Shero Athlete Collective, Chiles discussed her most significant purchases as she highlighted personal items with deep meaning.
“There are a few items that are priceless to me,” Chiles said to the outlet. “So I consider them the most expensive in my routine.
“My Bible, for example, reminds me that God always has me and that his angels are always watching over me.”
She also mentioned her iPad, used for creative outlets like coloring, but pointed to her designer bag collection as her priciest indulgence as she and Biles share the same streak in that regard.
“The most expensive one I’ve ever bought is my Chanel flap bag, so that’s likely my most costly,” she shared.
The bag, a Chanel Black Quilted Lambskin CC Funky Town Large Flap with aged gold hardware from 2022, is valued at $7,000 on Sotheby’s, complete with tonal textile lining, a dust bag, and a box.
This purchase aligns Chiles with Biles’ taste for luxury, symbolizing their shared journey from Olympic arenas to the world of high fashion.
Has Simone Biles retired from gymnastics?
Biles, with 41 Olympic and World Championship medals, has not confirmed retirement as of October 2025 although she did drop a hint that she would be reconsidering her future ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
After her stellar 2024 Paris Olympics performance, earning three golds, a silver, and her second all-around title, speculation about her career’s next phase grew and in early 2025, Biles suggested a shift toward family and personal priorities.
She has not trained since Paris, describing herself as “the happiest she’s ever been” despite physical challenges and her absence from the 2025 U.S. Gymnastics Championships, a first since 2022, intensified retirement rumors.
Yet, in April, she hinted at participating in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, possibly as a competitor, as she potentially relishes the chance to compete before her home crowd before retiring.
