Cardi B Takes Over the Mic as the New Voice of New York’s Subway Announcements!
Cardi B has gone from hawking her new album on the subway to being the voice of it.
On Tuesday, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority confirmed the Grammy-winning hip-hop star will be heard on the iron horse’s speaker systems with a fresh round of hilarious public safety announcements.
Throughout stations across the five boroughs, Cardi will school riders on proper train etiquette, letting them know that “steps are for stepping, not sitting. Move it, Bucko!”
“Stop subway surfing. Ride safe, keep it cute and keep it moving,” she also tells commuters in a video released on the MTA’s social media channels.
The 32-year-old “Bodak Yellow” rapper has recently gone viral after posting social media clips showing her “selling” her long-awaited second studio album, “Am I the Drama?” on street corners and subway trains.

In a video announcement of her return to in-person promotion, she jokingly explained that after filming the music video for “Imaginary Playerz,” her record label cut her budget to $50, leaving her to sell the CDs herself.
According to Billboard, by the first day of its release, the album was already certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Cardi B’s subway gig comes as she’s set to replace The Weeknd as the headliner of the 2025 Global Citizen Festival on Saturday in Central Park. Her “Little Miss Drama Tour” will make stops at Madison Square Garden and Prudential Center next spring.
