Cam Newton wants Deion Sanders’ son Shedeur to land up at the Falcons despite Kirk Cousins’ massive $180 million contract

Deion Sanders has a big year ahead of him. The 2024-25 football season will be key for the Colorado Buffaloes and Prime as they will need to show that the team can improve on its 4-win record last season and make it closer to the National Championship.

In all likelihood, it will be the last year that Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter play in the NCAA as the duo is expected to enter the NFL next year. Deion Sanders has made a bold claim stating that Shedeur Sanders will be a Top 4 pick in the Draft, however, Cam Newton disagrees

The former NFL quarterback spoke on the potential Shedeur Sanders has while choosing the best situation for him in the league on Club Shay Shay, Shannon Sharpe’s podcast.

Atlanta…if Prime can get Shedeur in Atlanta, boy let me tell you something, all businesses including Magic City will be appreciative of that damn pick right there…but I don’t think that he’s going to be a top 4 pick as he was saying and that’s fine…

Cam Newton highlighted the marketable value the name Sanders carries

That is an interesting choice of team which Cam Newton believes would be the right for Shedeur Sanders. The Sanders name holds great value in Atlanta. Deion Sanders was drafted by the Falcons at number 5 overall in the 1989 NFL Draft and it is where he established himself as a threat to wide receivers at the cornerback position while occasionally playing on special teams and returning punts for touchdowns.

Despite the Falcons’ recent signing of Kirk Cousins, Newton believes that Shedeur Sanders would bring hordes of fans flocking to Atlanta. His last name alone would help businesses feed their families, and Newton is right. This season, the Colorado Buffaloes had their stadiums packed every game, celebrities such as Dwayne Johnson and veteran players such as Terrell Owens and Michael Irvin were regular sights at their games.

Cam Newton sees Shedeur Sanders as a player who can be marketable and for him to be drafted by the city of Atlanta and follow the same route that his father did would be remarkable. The former star of the Panthers gave Prime a reality check as he stated that he does not see Shedeur being a top-four pick but that does not necessarily amount to a bad thing because the top-four picks often face the most pressure in the draft.

For players who are drafted later on, the expectations and pressure are not as high, which allows them to perform better than the top picks by learning at their own pace and taking their own time. It will be interesting to see where Shedeur Sanders will go but for now, the Buffaloes and Sanders remain focused on having success in the upcoming NCAA season.
