The 36-year-old singer of “Good As Hell” showed out on the Met Gala 2024 red carpet on Monday donning a translucent brown gown covered in petals and leaves that reached her head like a tree.
The Hollywood Reporter was informed by designer Victor Weinsanto that the botanical-inspired ensemble required a total of 600 to 700 hours to make.
The Paris-based designer said, “I wanted to play with the beauty of a rose through its lifecycle, using different tones and just mixing from my palettes. The gown features these sprays of dried flowers.”
Lizzo went all out for the “Garden of Time” dresscode at the 2024 Met Gala.
The star sported a brown sheer dress for the “Garden of Time” theme.
The mermaid-style dress was seemingly filled with petals and leaves.
The star’s matching makeup look included bold-colored flowers around her eyes, further helping her nail the night’s dress code, “The Garden of Time.”
“I gather a lot of my inspiration from botanical gardens, so I was thrilled — nature has the best color combinations,” the star’s makeup artist Alexx Mayo told the same outlet.
It’s not the first time the “About Damn Time” singer has made a grand entrance at the Met; in 2023, showed up in a Chanel dress dripping in pearls, and in 2022 she went with a black-and-gold embroidered Thom Browne gown that took a total of 22,000 hours to make.
Perhaps her most memorable Met look came in 2019, however, when she fully embraced the evening’s camp theme in a hot pink feathered Marc Jacobs frock inspired by Shirley MacLaine’s character in the 1964 movie “What a Way to Go!” (Post-party, she went viral for wearing the over-the-top look to the airport.)
The star completed her look with dots of bold eyeliner.
The star’s attended several Met Galas over the years.
It’s been a tumultuous year for the Grammy winner; in August, Lizzo was hit with multiple lawsuits from her former backup dancers, who accused her of 𝓈ℯ𝓍ual harassment and creating a hostile work environment. The artist denied any wrongdoing.
Recently, the “Juice” songstress took to Instagram to announce that she had “quit,” leading many to believe she was talking about music.
Lizzo later clarified what she meant, telling fans and followers that she was actually just quitting “giving any negative energy attention.”
