Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney‘s sandwich shop Something About Her is now officially open for business in West Hollywood — following over two years of unexpected delays.
The restaurant, located at 649 N Robertson Boulevard, opened its doors to the public on Wednesday, May 22 at 10am PST.
Vanderpump Rules fans arrived bright and early in the hopes of being the first to check out the Parisian-style eatery, with lines stretched down the busy block.
Madix and Maloney — who hosted a ‘soft opening’ over the weekend — first embarked on their joint business venture in 2021 with plans to open in 2023.
But the ladies faced a laundry list of challenges, including tricky permits, staffing changes and major refurbishments done to appease the LA health department.
These setbacks inspired unfair online discourse as fans expressed doubt that the restaurant would ever open and others even speculated it was a ‘scam.’
‘I know it’s been a really long time coming and that’s felt by everyone,’ Maloney told Andy Cohen on WWHL last month as she confirmed the May grand opening.
‘If we could have opened six months ago plus, we absolutely would have, but it’s been completely out of our hands. But we’re so excited.’

And that excitement was evident as Maloney, 37, and Madix, 38, welcomed first-time customers on Wednesday under the restaurant’s bright yellow and white awnings.
Hanging above their heads was the chic, black ‘Something About Her’ sign. The eatery is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
Speaking to Us Weekly, Madix and Maloney said they hope ‘everyone loves it’ and vowed to ‘continue to do the best that we can and grow and make it better and better as time goes on.’
Several staff members clad in black ‘Something About Her’ T-shirts happily waited on customers as they poured over the thoughtfully tailored menu with sandwiches named after actresses Reese Witherspoon, Drew Barrymore and even Maloney’s mother Teri.
The inside of the restaurant features white tables on hardwood floors with opulent chandeliers overhead and Parisian-style artwork set across from a wall of green-framed mirrors.
‘I don’t think we have to say anything. Everything’s going to speak for itself,’ Maloney said to Us Weekly of the hard work that went into bringing SAH’s interior to life.
In a recent video clip for Bravo, Maloney revealed that the the inside ‘was designed by Jon Hutman, who is Nancy Meyers’ production designer.
‘That was the whole inspiration of this sandwich shop in general. We wanted it to feel like main-character energy in a rom-com.’
Madix explained: ‘We also wanted it to feel like us. We wanted it to feel very California yet European,’ while Maloney added: ‘California country meets European cafe.’
Missing from Wednesday’s grand opening was Madix and Maloney’s former boss Lisa Vanderpump, the famed restaurateur behind West Hollywood hotspots like SUR and Pump.
And Lisa, 63, explained the reason for her absence to Page Six’s ‘Virtual Reali-Tea’ podcast on Wednesday.

‘I’m going to give them a minute,’ she said. ‘I don’t invite anybody to my restaurants for the first two weeks.
‘I want a minute to sort out all the problems before I say we’re open. They’re open, but let’s give them a minute.’
In an open letter shared to the official Instagram for Something About Her on Wednesday, Madix and Maloney expressed their ‘gratitude and excitement’ while thanking fans for their support.
‘Dear beloved patrons, We right to you with hearts full of gratitude and excitement for the journey we’ve embarked upon together. As the co-founders of our cherished sanctuary, we couldn’t be more thrilled to express our deepest thanks,’ the letter began.
‘Our story began with a shared dream – a dream to create a space that not only nourishes the body but also uplifts the spirit, As two passionate women seeking empowerment and connection, we envisioned a haven where design and taste intertwine to celebrate femininity and creativity.
‘In those early days, we might have been slightly delusional, dreaming of romantic lunches and whispered conversations that wove stories of empowerment and resilience. We wanted this space to be more than a sandwich shop; we wanted it to be a sanctuary – a place where every corned exuded inspiration and every bite spoke of possibility.
They continue: ‘Each recipe, each ingredient – a labor of love. We wanted our sandwiches to evoke nostalgia, to spark joy with every bite. Because we believe that food isn’t just sustenance; it’s a form of connection, a way to celebrate life’s simple pleasures.

‘But none of this would be possible without you, our dear patrons. Your support, your smiles, your shared moments of laughter and reflection – they fuel our passion and remind us why we embarked on this journey in the first place.
‘So, thank you – for embracing our dream, for making our vision a reality, and for being part of this beautiful community we’ve built together.
‘We look forward to many more lunches filled with laughter, inspiration, and perhaps a touch of delightful delusion about the magic of life.
‘With all our love and gratitude, Katie and Ariana, Co-founders of Something About Her,’ the letter concludes.
The post, which included gorgeous photos of Maloney and Madix inside the establishment, has amassed over 70,000 ‘likes’ in six hours.
Stars from the Bravo world and the Vanderpump Rules universe were on hand to help the ladies celebrate on Saturday, May 18 at Something About Her’s soft opening.
Andy Cohen stopped in, which appeared to surprise Madix and Maloney. VPR alum Stassi Schroeder and her husband Beau Clark also popped in to show their support.
Kristen Doute, formerly of VPR and currently of The Valley, was in attendance with her co-star Janet Caperna. Katie’s mom Teri Maloney and Ariana’s boyfriend Daniel Wai also showed their support.
One co-star who didn’t show up (besides their exes Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz) was Lala Kent. Maloney and Kent recently had it out on part one of the three-part Vanderpump Rules season 11 reunion.
Kent alleged that Maloney had talked off-camera before the season about how Ariana ‘abandoned her in the sandwich shop’ and ‘wasn’t caught up on her rent for the sandwich shop.’
Maloney admitted she did wish Madix would have given her a little notice about going New York City to star in a Broadway show.

Kent said Maloney made her look like the enemy. ‘I think there were a few people sitting up here that were living in the comments section all the livelong season,’ Kent said. ‘Katie’s one of them.’
Andy asked if she thought their reaction was how the viewers were reacting to them.
‘It’s no secret that Ariana is a fan favorite, right?’ Kent said. ‘You don’t f*** around with that. And I understand that.’
Maloney said she didn’t want to take it to Madix so she turned to Kent, as a friend, to vent.
Kent said that Maloney lost her mind and said she wasn’t going to say anything critical of Ariana or how things went down last summer because she invested a lot of money in the sandwich shop.
‘And you said to me, “If you’re gonna f*** with my business Lala, then I’m gonna f*** with yours,”‘ Kent added.
‘And honest to God, I wanted to say to you Something About Her is really Nothing About Her right now. You don’t got a business, and mine is my livelihood that I support my child on, so how dare you threaten to f*** with it,’ Kent said.
