Anthony Joshua gave British boxer Mike Tyson career advice to “get yourself a good lawyer.”

Anthony Joshua gave Moses Itauma various pieces of advice.

Itauma has been practicing alongside AJ after choosing cornerback Ben Davison to lead his budding young career in the future.

Itauma picked up his latest win in Saudi Arabia earlier in May.

The British rising star, who has been compared to heavyweight legend Mike Tyson, picked up his ninth professional win after stopping Ilja Mezencev on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk.

And he has revealed that AJ has spent several hours advising him on his career, including over investments and business.

He told Boxing Scene: “Being in camp with Joshua, it’s all a blessing. It’s good. There’s a lot of experience in that gym.

We’ve [me and Joshua] crossed paths a few times and I’ve asked him a few questions, just about life; about money; about experience.

“He’s given me some heads up – I’m grateful. I guess I see him as a little bit of a mentor, because I do ask him a lot of questions. He is very generous. It was very surprising, that.

“Even before I turned pro, me and Joshua was talking for a good hour about whether I should turn pro or stay amateur.

“It was mad, because at the time he was the heavyweight champion of the world; for him to take an hour out of his day to talk to me, I was like, ‘Yeah – this guy’s humble’.

“[He also told me] ‘Get yourself a good lawyer, and invest your money into houses’. Tyson Fury said the same thing, surprisingly.”

Itauma has joined Joshua working under trainer Davison.

It will be an exciting time in the gym, with Itauma looking to build his career to the very top in as quick fashion as possible.

The 19-year-old has been tipped by both Joshua and Fury as the ‘future king of the division’ and he has already began fighting on some big stages.

He could well be in safe hands, given the rapid improvements Joshua has shown in his own career since choosing the cornerman.

AJ has picked up two huge stoppage wins over Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou since competing under his stewardship.

And he is eyeing a return to challenging for world titles in 2024, and is awaiting a shot at the winner of Filip Hrgovic vs Daniel Dubois for the IBF title if Usyk vacates.

The Briton is also targeting a clash with Itauma’s previous sparring partner Fury, which could be set for 2025.

The ‘Gypsy King’ will look for redemption in a rematch with Usyk later this year, and could target a huge clash with Joshua afterwards.
