The Boys’ Homelander Actor Antony Starr Breaks Silence on Explosive DCU Casting Rumors.

Antony Starr of The Boys has responded to reports that he has been cast as the title character in the new DC Universe series Booster Gold. Starr has become one of the most well-known names in the superhero world thanks to his captivating performance as the villain Homelander in The Boys. Recently, the star became entangled in rumors about being cast in one of the future DCU projects, Booster Gold, and it wasn’t long before the actor was questioned about it.

Speaking to Comicbook.com (via @DCU_Updates/Twitter), Antony Starr was asked about the Booster Gold casting rumors but did not directly deny them, instead praising DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn.

Starr made a cheeky comment about playing golf with Gunn before going on to praise the work of the creative mind of the DCU, saying, “I’m excited to see what he cooks up.” Whether that will include Starr leading Max’s Booster Gold series has yet to be seen. Check out the full quote below:

“Me and James just play golf. I cannot wait to see what he does with the DC Universe. I think he’s a phenomenal director, producer, talent. He’s one of the biggest brands in the industry, so I’m excited to see what he cooks up.”

Who Antony Starr Could Play In James Gunn’s DC Universe

There Are A Few Great Roles For The Boys’ Homelander

Starr has shown in the three seasons of The Boys so far that he is one of the best actors to have ever graced superhero adaptations. He makes Homelander terrifying through both grand gestures and the smallest ones, like how he uses his eyes to make Homelander look on the verge of breaking down in pretty much every scene he is in. That kind of talent is well-suited for a number of DCU roles.

Starr has been one of the leading candidates among fans to play Reverse-Flash in the DCU. As Grant Gustin’s The Flash series showed, there is a lot of potential in Reverse-Flash as a villain. The character could even be an overarching DCU foe, fighting other heroes beyond just the Flash, as was director Zack Snyder’s original plan for the DCEU. Starr’s intimidating persona as Homelander would translate well for Reverse-Flash, making him a threat to be feared by all DCU heroes.

Another major DCU villain Starr could play is Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face. Starr has the acting range to play off the duality of the character, making Harvey a charismatic hero and then telling the tragic story of him becoming the sinister Two-Face. As for DCU heroes, Starr’s best possible role would really be the one he is rumored for — Booster Gold. The actor’s Homelander character nails the humor that is needed for Booster Gold — though the DCU hero would do without the sinister undertones of The Boys‘ villain. Who will lead DC’s Booster Gold has yet to be revealed.
