Unexpected Twist: Carl Froch Changes His Tune on Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua Clash.

Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua would be the biggest bout in British heavyweight boxing history.

The historic British heavyweight battle between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is still no closer to being lined up, but Carl Froch has selected his victor if they ever fight.

Carl Froch has made a dramatic U-turn, backing Anthony Joshua to defeat Tyson Fury if they ever face off.

The Cobra reveals he “always thought” Fury would win the all-British boxing match, but believes the tables have changed, with AJ on the rise. Joshua and Fury have dominated the heavyweight boxing division for a decade, but a fight has never materialised.

Both lost their belts to current undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk, who defeated Fury in May via split decision. Fury will have the opportunity to restore his titles against the Ukrainian on December 21 in Saudi Arabia.

And there is still a ray of hope that if Fury loses, a trilogy bout will not take place, paving the way for the much-anticipated British confrontation. When asked which of the two juggernauts will win in the near future, Froch was optimistic about Joshua based on previous events.

He said on Froch on Fighting : “I’ve always thought Tyson Fury beats Anthony Joshua. I think he’s too fast, too light on his feet, there’s good movement, there’s more of a natural talent. There’s so many things Tyson Fury does right that you can’t teach.

“Joshua didn’t win many rounds across two fights with Usyk. I thought Fury gave Usyk a better go, he could’ve won. It was a close, close decision. Who did better against Usyk? Probably Fury.

“But at the minute now. Joshua is coming off the back of four wins and he’s getting his confidence back. He’s in the gym all the time, he looks like a machine and he takes his fitness and dedication to the sport very seriously.

Anthony Joshua is in great form.

“Boxing’s all about timing. Tyson Fury was on the p*** last week weren’t he? I’m not giving him stick but the good ones, we don’t drink between fights. Because he’s been seen out in Morecambe having a drink, and he’s 36 [in August], I just think timing wise Anthony Joshua will probably knock out Tyson Fury.

“AJ will go into that believing in himself and he knows Fury has just been beaten, struggling a bit and past his best. Hard to separate but I think the smart money would be on a close win or a knockout win for Joshua.”

Fury was hauled out of a Morecambe pub by security, according to video footage posted online earlier this month. The 35-year-old was then videotaped stumbling around and falling to his knees outdoors, appearing to strike his head on a lamppost.

It follows Fury’s most challenging period in the ring to date. After barely defeating former UFC champion Francis Ngannou by decision in Autumn 2023, Usyk suffered his first professional defeat after losing to him after 12 rounds.

Joshua, on the other hand, defeated Ngannou in two rounds in March. Previously, he defeated Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius, and Otto Wallin with similar ease.
