Revealed: Black Noir’s Unmasked Audition Takes His Season 4 Role to Jaw-Dropping Heights.

The Boys recently unveiled Black Noir’s unmasked audition for the Seven, and this funny video provides even more detail to his season 4 part.

Black Noir has been a vital component of The Boys since its inception, and despite his death in season 3, the character’s tale is far from finished. Rather of declaring Vought’s death, they replaced him with a new Black Noir in season 4 of The Boys. Although the first version was a silent 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁er, his replacement lacks the same vicious tendencies, making the two versions of the character vastly different.

Interestingly, Nathan Mitchell portrays both the original and the new Black Noir. The first version was only unmasked in a flashback scene starring Fritzey-Klevans Destine, but Nathan Mitchell has spent the majority of the time wearing the outfit. Mitchell’s new version of Black Noir has an entirely different demeanor than the original, demonstrating the actor’s remarkable adaptability. This makes his smooth shift from a tragic yet lethal supe to an out-of-his-depth actor joining the Seven all the more stunning, and with The Boys publishing the new Noir’s hilarious audition, his season 4 role will only improve.

Black Noir’s Audition Tape Adds More Depth To Nathan Mitchell’s The Boys Season 4 Character

The Boys’ Black Noir Audition Reveals More About Nathan Mitchell’s Character

Black Noir’s audition tape reveals more about the character, giving Mitchell’s role more depth as season 4 heads toward its conclusion. Given Nathan Mitchell’s Black Noir finally removed his mask in The Boys season 4, episode 6, it seems as though the show plans on highlighting more of his personality and backstory, which his audition tape has already provided. The tape revealed that the new Noir had reservations about joining the Seven and didn’t feel the role was right for him; however, he was enticed by the massive financial incentive Vought was offering alongside the fame that comes with it.

This audition emphasized the new Noir’s ability to fly, although his other abilities remained unknown. Mitchell’s character also claimed to be at the top of his class at Godolkin University and had previous acting experience, which added context to his genuine intentions. The new version of Black Noir appears to have no actual violent intents, and the character plainly doesn’t belong in the Seven, making his job more intriguing. With his audition exacerbating his mixed emotions in episode 6, the new Black Noir could be a wildcard for the rest of season 4, making his journey more compelling.

Black Noir’s In-Universe Audition Feels Weirdly Similar To His Real Life Casting

Nathan Mitchell’s Black Noir Audition Feels Deliberately Meta

While Black Noir’s hilarious in-universe audition is intentionally comedic, it also seems strangely similar to Mitchell’s real-life casting. Although he may not have had numerous NDAs to sign or the same bizarre instructions, it seems possible Mitchell’s The Boys audition somewhat mirrored his character’s experience. Black Noir was informed he wouldn’t speak and would be devoid of facial expressions due to his mask, meaning the part would be done solely through body language. Naturally, this is a strange request for an actor, and his response could be reminiscent of Mitchell’s real-life thoughts.

Noir says, “I don’t get to talk?” and “No one’s going to see my face?” lines could reflect emotions comparable to Mitchell’s during his audition, and while it’s unlikely that they played out the same way, the sketch feels purposefully satirical. Even though Mitchell read Black Noir before auditioning for The Boys, his position in the play is quite different, making it one of his most distinctive roles to date. Although Mitchell’s audition evidently went well, given that he got the part, this sketch could be a parody of his real experience, making Noir’s audition even more amusing.
