Game-Changer: Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren Unite on DAZN, Boosting Joshua vs. Fury Showdown!

DAZN is reportedly close to a revolutionary television contract that will put Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren under the same banner for the first time.

Matchroom Boxing, owned by Hearn, has had exclusive rights to the American streaming service since 2021, making this agreement a significant shift in the boxing landscape.

Warren and Hearn were once enemies, yet they may now work for the same broadcaster.

According to The Times, DAZN is on track to sign a long-term worldwide rights deal with Warren’s Queensberry Promotions in the coming weeks.

Anthony Joshua, who is managed by Hearn, has signed a contract with DAZN that will last his entire career and owns stock in it.

Warren promotes Tyson Fury, and a partnership between the two would be a first for British boxing’s heavyweight stars to share a broadcaster.

Their long-awaited bout is expected to take place next year, when Queensberry’s contract with TNT Sports expires.

It would essentially make the DAZN app the home of UK boxing.

It has previously chosen to strike sub-licensing TV deals with both TNT and Sky to maximise the profile and revenue of pay-per-view fights involving Joshua and Fury in Saudi Arabia over the past year.

The recent influx of Saudi riches into boxing has seen Hearn and Warren set aside their differences to ensure they maximise the lucrative opportunities in Riyadh.

Fury is scheduled to rematch Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch in December after suffering his first pro career lost against the Ukrainian in May.

Meanwhile, Joshua faces fellow Brit Daniel Dubois at Wembley in September for the IBF heavyweight title that Usyk recently vacated on the first Saudi-backed card to be staged in the UK.

Joshua and Fury came close to fighting in 2021 before the deal fell through but could lock horns next year.

The deal would then theoretically clear Joshua and Fury to face each other, either in Riyadh or London in 2025, in what would arguably be the most anticipated fight in British boxing history.

DAZN was founded in 2015 by billionaire Sir Len Blavatnik, who claims it is on pace to become the ‘global home of sport’.

However, it has had limited success outside of boxing, with an unsuccessful attempt to broadcast all 1,656 English Football League matches last year.

The corporation recorded yearly losses of $1.26 billion (about £98 billion) for 2022, a significant reduction above the $2.18 billion loss in 2021. Its revenue also rose by $639 million, or 41%, to $2.2 billion.

DAZN subscribers pay £19.99 per month and can cancel at any time. Joshua and Fury’s recent fights in Saudi Arabia were shown on the pay-per-view service for an additional cost.

When The Times contacted Queensberry and DAZN, they both declined to comment.
