6 Years After Near-Death Pregnancy Trauma, Serena Williams Takes Up Beauty Initiative for Mothers in Danger for the Same

When it comes to motherhood, Serena Williams has experienced a different kind of turmoil in that part of life. Today, while she is happy with her two daughters and a family of her own with her husband, becoming a mother for the first time was something that literally changed her way of looking up to various things. Years after embracing motherhood for the first time, she recently launched her own beauty venture.

However, the 23-time Grand Slam champion revealed the reason behind the disaster of the pregnancy experience during the birth of Olympia was something that forced her to come up with a beauty brand idea. Let’s take a look at how both of these things are interconnected with each other.

The inspiration behind Serena Williams’ beauty venture that will play “a role in supporting Mothers”

The Queen of Courts is ready to serve up beauty, with her own beauty brand, Wyn. In an interview with Byrdie, the iconic tennis legend opened up about her beauty brand and discussed how she got inspiration from her first pregnancy, where she literally faced a near-death experience. She stated, “Maternal health is a cause that’s very personal to me after the life-threatening experience during the birth of Olympia.”

On the other hand, she also dwelled on how, with this beauty brand, she wants to improve the mental health of mothers by supporting them in different stages of their motherhood journey. Williams added, “It’s important to me that WYN Beauty plays a role in supporting mothers from all backgrounds in different stages of motherhood. We will platform causes and initiatives that support maternal health and will champion members of our community who are doing the same.”

In 2017, the 23-time Grand Slam champion and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, welcomed their first child, daughter Olympia. She played tennis all during her pregnancy and was honest about the difficulties she faced both during and after giving birth.

But after Olympia arrived, Serena experienced unanticipated health issues. She experienced excruciating pain and lost sensation in her legs, necessitating surgery to stop the blood clots from spreading. Not only that, while her life after pregnancy looked amazing, it was not what it looked like, as mental health took center stage post-childbirth.
