Lady Gaga Breaks Silence on ‘Man’ Rumors: ‘I Refused to Play the Victim’!

Lady Gaga didn’t think it was in the “best interest” of others to “fix” the rumor that she was a male. The hitmaker of “Bad Romance” explained why, in the beginning of her career, she evaded queries regarding the assertion.

Lady Gaga revealed why she previously dodged questions about the rumor that she was a man.

“The reason I didn’t answer the question was because I didn’t feel like a victim with that lie,” Gaga told Bill Gates in his new series, “What’s Next? The Future With Bill Gates,” which dropped on Netflix Wednesday.

“But I thought about, what about a kid that’s being accused of that, that would think that a public figure like me would feel shame.”

The Grammy addressed the claim in Bill Gates’ new Netflix series, “What’s Next? The Future With Bill Gates,” which debuted on the streamer Wednesday.

“The reason I didn’t answer the question was because I didn’t feel like a victim with that lie,” Gaga said.

In the billionaire’s new show tackling “the world’s most pressing issues,” Gaga explained that the rumor began in the 2010s after an altered image of herself went viral online.

“There was this imagery on the internet that had been doctored and they were like, ‘You know there’s this rumor that you’re a man. What do you have to say about that?’” the Grammy winner recalled.

During her rise to fame, the “A Star Is Born” actress, 38, attempted to change the narrative when asked the question.

“There was this imagery on the internet that had been doctored and they were like, ‘You know there’s this rumor that you’re a man. What do you have to say about that?’” the pop star explained to Gates.

“I’ve been in situations where fixing a rumor was not in the best interest of … other people,” Gaga told the billionaire tech mogul.

“I’ve been in situations where fixing a rumor was not in the best interest of — I thought of the well-being of other people,” the pop star told Gates.

“So in that case, I tried to be thought-provoking and disruptive in another way. I tried to use the misinformation to create another disruptive point.”

Gaga previously dodged the question during a 2011 interview with Anderson Cooper.

“Why the hell am I going to waste my time and give a press release about whether or not I have a penis?” the singer, then 24, said. “My fans don’t care and neither do I.”

The rumor began during Gaga’s rise to fame in the 2010s.

Attempting to rewrite the story to suit her needs, she said, “I tried to be disruptive and thought-provoking in another way.”ABC

Gaga made light of the allegation that she had a “male appendage” earlier in the same conversation with Cooper, joking, “Maybe I do.” Would it really be that bad?

On Wednesday, fans praised the “Telephone” singer after her remarks from “What’s Next?” started making the rounds on social media.

One fan said on Instagram, “Truly her level of eloquence, long-term strategy, empathy and outright bravery is remarkable,” while another said, “And that’s why Gaga is MOTHERRRR [sic].”

The “Bad Romance” hitmaker previously avoided shutting down the speculation in a 2011 interview with Anderson Cooper.

At the time, she exclaimed, “Why the hell am I going to waste my time and give a press release about whether or not I have a penis?”

Gaga also stressed that her performances are “more real” than any internet speculations during her chat with Gates.

People tend to believe that someone like me who performs is acting, and that’s not the case. That’s the most authentic thing you’ll see about me, in my opinion,” she remarked.

“All of the rumors that are out there to make me look bad in order to get more clicks are not nearly as real as that.”
