Kate Middleton’s brother, James Middleton, has weighed in on how his sister is doing after finishing her chemotherapy treatment.

“She’s doing OK,” James, 37, said during a Today interview that aired on Thursday.

“It’s not for me to share on her behalf how everything’s going.”

He continued, “She’s getting all the right support and focus that she needs. And like anything, it takes time to process.”

James is one of Kate’s two siblings, along with sister Pippa Middleton, 41. All three are the children of Michael and Carole Middleton.

James married French financial analyst Alizée Thevenet in 2021, and the couple welcomed their son, Inigo, in 2023.

Middleton, 42, was diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer earlier this year. After there was months of speculation about why she had withdrawn from public appearances, she announced the news in March.

In a video at the time revealing that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing treatment, Middleton said, “This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”

She added, “As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK,” referring to her children, George, 10, Charlotte, 8, and Louis, 5, with Prince William.

The Princess of Wales continued, “I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery. It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family.”

At the time in March, James put out an Instagram statement supporting his older sister.

“Over the years, we have climbed many mountains together. As a family, we will climb this one with you too,” he said, with a mountain and heart emoji.

Middleton’s father-in-law, King Charles II, also continues his own cancer treatment.

The 75-year-old monarch was diagnosed with cancer in February.

After taking a break from royal duties to focus on his health, Charles returned to public-facing duties in April.

On Sept. 9, Kate gave another major health update, announcing that she is “cancer free.”

“I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” the Princess of Wales announced in a statement on X, formerly Twitter.

“Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”

The Princess said she was now “looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can.”

Kate has been slowly returning to public appearances, as she attended the men’s final at Wimbledon in July alongside her daughter, Princess Charlotte.

In August, she was also later spotted heading to a morning service at Crathie Kirk church in the Scottish village of Crathie, near the family’s Balmoral Estate.

In her latest health update, she went on to thank those who have supported her.

“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown,” she said.
