In October, she shared a political ad endorsing Harris’ bid for the Presidency of the United States.
She began the video by stating: ‘Hi, I’m Mariska, and if you know me, and you know that I’ve spent my life fighting for girls and for women, both on screen and off.’

‘You might not be surprised to hear that I like strong leaders who will prioritize safety, accountability, and justice,’ she shared in the video.
‘That’s why I’m voting for Kamala Harris. With so much on the line, I trust Kamala to uphold the law and defend our freedoms on November 5, Kamala has my vote.’
The ad was paid for through the One for All Committee, which says on its website its aim is persuading ‘moderate women to vote for an America that works for everyone.’
Mariska captioned the post: ‘You all know me. I’ve spent my life fighting for girls and women. I want a strong leader who will uphold the law and protect our freedoms.

In addition to solving cases on TV as her beloved character, Captain Olivia Benson, she has stepped in to help crack more than 11,000 𝓈ℯ𝓍 assault cases and track down 22 serial rapists.
It was recently revealed that the actress helped investigators in Michigan identify 22 ‘serial rapists’ by funding prosecutor Kym Worthy’s mission to process 11,000 untested rape kits that had been sitting in a police evidence room, according to The Today Show reported.

When Hargitay learned of the staggering backlog of untested rape kits in Wayne County, she ‘made it her mission to get all of them tested.’
Through her Joyful Heart Foundation – which Hargitay founded in 2004 to support the healing of survivors and alter society’s response to 𝓈ℯ𝓍ual assault – she launched the End the Backlog program.
The program aims to end ‘injustice’ by working to ‘identify jurisdictions with rape kit backlogs’ and assist with ‘developing and implementing survivor-centered reforms.’
The charity helped Wayne County raise enough money to test 11,000 kits, which journalist Andrea Canning says has had a ‘ripple effect across the country.’

‘It’s making changes everywhere — for police departments, for prosecutors’ offices,’ Canning told the Today Show.
‘So hats off to Kym Worthy…. She deserves the biggest pat on the back for this. Thousands of cases were solved. They found 22 serial rapists among these kits.’
