On Saturday, September 13, 2025, Taylor Swift’s attorneys told the court that the pop star has nothing to do with the lawsuit between actress Blake Lively and actor-director Justin Baldoni. The legal fight is tied to Baldoni’s film It Ends With Us. His lawyers had asked a New York judge for permission to question Swift after the release of her new album The Life of a Showgirl in October.

Taylor Swift’s lawyer explained that the singer had “no material role” in the case. He also said Swift never agreed to give a deposition but, if forced, her team would find time in her busy schedule during the week of October 20.
On Friday, September 12, Judge Lewis Liman rejected Justin Baldoni’s request. He ruled that Taylor Swift cannot be dragged into the case. This ruling was reported by CNN.Back in May 2025, Taylor Swift’s team had already filed a statement. It said she was not on the set of the film, not part of the casting, and had not even watched the movie until weeks after its release.
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s court clash also pulls in Ryan Reynolds and Taylor Swift
Blake Lively filed her lawsuit earlier this year against Justin Baldoni, his production company Wayfarer Studios, his publicist, and his crisis PR team. She said Justin Baldoni 𝓈ℯ𝓍ually harassed her during filming and later tried to damage her reputation with a smear campaign. Baldoni has denied all of these claims.
In response, Justin Baldoni filed a $400 million countersuit against Lively and her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, accusing them of defamation and extortion. That case, however, was dismissed by a judge in June 2025. Court papers reviewed by People Magazine on January 16, 2025, revealed that in one text, Lively referred to Swift and Reynolds as her “dragons” and compared herself to Khaleesi from Game of Thrones. Baldoni’s side argued that Swift and Reynolds influenced the creative process of the film. They also pointed out that Swift’s song My Tears Ricochet was used in the soundtrack.
According to US Weekly, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has been a strong supporter for Swift while her close friend Blake Lively faces this legal battle. Sources said Kelce has been Swift’s “sounding board” since the lawsuit was filed. In a sign of strain, Kelce even unfollowed Ryan Reynolds on social media.
The two couples have been seen together in public before. On October 11, 2024, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were photographed in New York City with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Later, in August 2024, they also celebrated Blake Lively’s birthday at Swift’s Rhode Island home.
