ACM Entertainer of the Year Jason Aldean has plenty on his plate nowadays. Not only does he one of Country music’s hottest stars, he also has a new partnership with Field & Stream, a co-ownership of Buck Commander and he recently released his seventh studio album, They Don’t Know.
On top of his wildly successful career, Aldean is also a father to daughters Keeley and Kendyl. As the girls get older, the Georgia native has enjoyed seeing their interests grow and change, including their taste in music.
“Kendyl listens to whatever her big sister listens to, kind of,” Aldean told Sounds Like Nashville and other media outlets during a recent interview. “She’ll just pick a song that she likes. It’s funny. A couple months ago, she got into ‘Ice Ice Baby’, and I heard ‘Ice Ice Baby’ nine thousand times on the way to school, but Keeley likes everything, which is really cool, because I raised them listening to whatever.”
While Kendyl listens to the same song repeatedly, Keeley has a much more dynamic musical taste.
“Keeley will listen to Ray Charles, and then she’ll turn around and listen to The Weeknd, and then it’s Drake, and then it’s Ronnie Milsap. It’s all over the place, which is really cool. Keeley just got into listening to Foreigner. She’s playing all this ’80s rock stuff, and I’m like, ‘This is awesome,’” said the proud dad. “She has a really diverse sense of style of music that she likes, which is cool, because I’ve played everything for them growing up, everything from traditional country to rock to hip hop, pop, whatever. She’ll listen to something really current, and then go listen to Heart. I’ll just let her be the DJ a lot of times.”
