Meghan Markle allegedly reached out to Serena Williams ahead of her Canada trip with Prince Harry
Meghan Markle reportedly tapped her longtime pal Serena Williams to join her and Prince Harry on their recent trip to Canada.
According to a blind item posted on Crazy Day and Nights, the Duchess of Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍’s offer was ‘rebuffed’ by the retired athlete for unspecified reasons.
However, the tipster presumed it could be due to the former royals’ desire to use a family jet, prompting Williams, a vocal advocate of climate change, to decline.
“It is tough to go raise money and have people give when you are spending a bunch of money you could be donating,” they added, “on a private jet.”
The blind item was shared by an account on X, formerly Twitter, with username Royally Sage.
They wrote alongside the photo: “Serena dumped Harry’s wife as her friend. And it looks like Tyler Perry is starting to say no to the constant use of the private jet. So the harkles made the charity pay for it.”
Harry and Meghan recently flied to Canada to commemorate the upcoming edition of Invictus Games in Vancouver and Whistler.
A source told Page Six last week that the pair “certainly don’t like to spend their own money” to charter the jet.
“It’s always other people’s money,” they shared.
Meghan and Serena have been friends for a decade after hanging out at the 2014 Super Bowl. The mom of two also appeared on the former actress’ Archetypes podcast in 2022.
