Ryan Reynolds opened up about his mental health on Monday evening at Bring Change To Mind‘s 11th Annual Revels & Revelations Gala in New York City.
The 46-year-old actor and entrepreneur — who was was honored with the mental health nonprofit’s Robin Williams Legacy Of Laughter Award — spoke with Page Six about maintaining his mental wellbeing.
When asked how he keeps a mindful balance he replied, ‘Not always great, to be honest.’
He admitted, ‘I certainly have my own little rituals and those kinds of things that help me stay grounded and keep my mind from spinning out of control.’
The father-of-four, who’s married to Blake Lively, added, ‘Sometimes I’m really good at it, sometimes I’m not.’

Reynolds noted that when he notices he’s having an ‘out of control’ moment, he takes time to meditate.
The star added: ‘I tend to overbook myself when I’m spiraling that way.
‘I’m sort of aware of that stuff and I manage it as well as you can,’ he told the outlet.
It’s not the first time he’s opened up about coping with stress in his life.
In 2022 he shared with CBS Sunday Mornings: ‘I’ve had anxiety my whole life really. And you know, I feel like I have two parts of my personality, that one takes over when that happens.’
While at Monday night’s star-studded event for the organization founded by Glenn Close, Ryan also discussed how he incorporates mental health practices while raising his and Lively’s four children.
Speaking with People, he explained the importance of teaching his kids to be self-aware.
‘It’s more about talking to them about everything,’ he emphasized. ‘It’s genuine when I say I take a huge interest in their days and how things are going.’

Ryan and Blake share daughters James, eight, Ines, seven, and Betty, four, plus their fourth child — born in February 2023, whose name and gender has not been revealed.
‘For me, the best time of my day is walking them to school and walking them back.
‘I think, as parents, we are so much better equipped to handle the rigors of childhood through our kids now than when I was a kid,’ he said.
He added: ‘It’s just totally different now. People are much more self-aware.
‘And that’s the thing we sort of hang our hat on the most is self-awareness with our kids. Not be happy, not be anything — just be self-aware and welcome everything in.’
