Swoosh supports NIL partner and WNBA-bound superstar for her last college home game.
Ahead of Caitlin Clark’s final home game for Iowa before the Big Ten and NCAA Tournaments and WNBA Draft in the Spring, her NIL partner Nike launched massive outdoor advertisements featuring the NCAA’s all-time leading women’s scorer in Iowa City.
Clark now holds the women’s record with 3,650 career points and is 18 points away from breaking the men’s mark held by LSU legend “Pistol” Pete Maravich, who has held the record since 1970. She will likely set a new record against No. 2 Ohio State on Sunday.
Clark’s Nike banner in Iowa City covers a seven-story building in the downtown area.
Clark has previously appeared in billboard-form in New York City’s Time Square during Iowa’s road trip to Rutgers and after setting the women’s scoring record, Nike released social media advertisements featuring Clark and the copy “You break it, you own it,” with corresponding jersey t-shirts sold online.
Those retails sales set records of their own, breaking Fanatics’ NIL numbers previously held by Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
Prior to her senior day against Ohio State, Clark officially made her WNBA Draft intentions known, announcing that she would forgo her extra year of eligibility due to the shortened COVID-19 2020 season.
Clark is expected to be the top selection in the draft, joining 2023 No. 1 pick Aliyah Boston with the Indiana Fever. Next season’s ticket prices for the team have already doubled well before the draft and the presumed selection of Clark.
Meanwhile, prices to get into Sunday’s matchup versus Ohio State have set records of their own for any level of women’s basketball.
In addition to the seven-story banner of Clark shooting a jumper, Nike revealed billboards of copy that read “Caitlin Clark shouldn’t be allowed to play in a boy’s tournament,” “Caitlin Clark does things very few athletes can do,” and “Caitlin Clark is the biggest star in basketball.”
Clark and No. 6 Iowa face Ohio State on Sunday at 1PM ET on FOX.
