New York Jets Trade of Aaron Rodgers Backup Zach Wilson? That ‘Era’ Seems Over
The “Zach Wilson Era” is going to be over before it ever really began … and so, we bet, will the “Zach Wilson Window to Be Traded.”
The New York Jets quarterback was the No. 2 overall pick in his NFL Draft, but is now considered a “bust.” Develop into a starter? Nope. Mature behind Aaron Rodgers? Nope.
Permission to seek a trade? Yup … But not many suitors will be knocking on that door.
Wilson’s play does not suggest he has trade value. And his contract isn’t all that inviting, either … though the guaranteed $5.5 million might not be an obstacle for a team that wouldn’t count on him but has ample cap room. (The Rams fall into that first category.)
So even as ESPN notes the “permission given to seek a trade” angle? This is almost surely really going to be about the Jets waiting, waiting and waiting … and then cutting the first-round failure.
