As per a 2022 CMT News story, Kurt Allison, Tully Kennedy, John Morgan, and Lydia Vaughan co-stated “In the event that I Didn’t Cherish You.” Aldean felt it would work with Underwood’s voice. Luckily, she had no new music on her timetable.

“Her voice was the one I heard on the melody,” Aldean said. “I sent it to Carrie and she needed to hear a variant of it with my voice on it. So I ran into the studio and tossed a vocal on it, sent it back, and was like, ‘alright, presently what is your take?'”

What Jason Aldean considered Carrie Underwood’s vocals on the track

Aldean had major areas of strength for a to the melody. “From the second she came in and began singing on it, me and [my producer] were like, ‘Heavenly [moly], this will be great. We thought it would have been great, yet this will be extraordinary,” he said. “I think this will go down as quite possibly of the greatest two part harmony in blue grass music. I’m truly pleased to be a piece of it.”

Underwood examined her response to the track. “I said, ‘It’s this tune they sent over that perhaps I’ll sing with Jason,'” she made sense of. “He goes, ‘It’s great.’ I was like, ‘I know.'”
