Anthony Joshua now looks back to his best after back-to-back impressive wins with the heavyweight looking for his next opponent before potentially fighting for a championship belt
Anthony Joshua has been called out by his former rival Joseph Parker in a bizarrely entertaining video posted on social media. Like Joshua, New Zealand heavyweight Parker has been resurgent in recent months – with impressive wins over Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang putting him right back in contention atop of the rankings.
Both Joshua and Parker now rank as the two top contenders outside of Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, who are set to fight in a unification bout this summer
And Parker has made his intentions clear, in an interesting way, with a video being posted to Queensberry Promotions’ social media channels. The 32-year-old is featured painting in the video, a known hobby of his, while lip-syncing Ed Sheeran’s ‘Lego House’. Parker is then seen looking at images of Joshua, and their 2018 fight in which the British heavyweight outclassed him to a comfortable points victory.
The video ends with Joshua and Parker’s heads on logo pieces, with writing reading ‘Joshua vs Parker 2’, before the New Zealander looks at a painting of his former rival.
Parker would pose as a dangerous opponent for Joshua, and one that he could be interested in to assure himself a shot at the heavyweight championships.
Joshua had been rumored to be facing Filip Hrgovic in his next bout, but Eddie Hearn had recently revealed that he the potential opponent would be in line to face the winner of Fury and Usyk – with Joshua waiting for an opponent.
Joshua would not fight Parker for a belt, with neither man having a current clear path to fight for a championship, but it would no doubt be his biggest challenge since his losses to Oleksandr Usyk.
Like Parker, Joshua has been resurgent since his defeats – with impressive wins over Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou.
