Jets want Aaron Rodgers to only focus on playing football.
The New York Jets are upset with Aaron Rodgers. His teammates and the higher-ups at East Rutherford, New Jersey, don’t want the veteran quarterback to divert his attention to politics.
News broke on Tuesday that independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has approached the 40-year-old to be his vice president prospect. RFK Jr. and Rodgers are old acquaintances, but hardly anyone was expecting the former Democrat to drop such a massive wish.
Many states require independent candidates to have a subordinate for the legitimacy of their ballot. Kennedy could pick Rodgers because he shares a similar distrust over vaccine mandates. The four-time NFL MVP has over the years shown disdain for the use of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and even took a jab at Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for being the face of it.
However, the sudden interest of politicians in Aaron Rodgers has not gone down well, neither with his New York Jets teammates or coaching staff. They don’t want him to focus on football because that’s the reason they paid handsome money to bring him to the Big Apple.

DailyMail.com found out that since Kennedy announced his desire, there has been turbulence inside the Jets front office. Sauce Gardner‘s reaction kind of gave it away. Most think it’s ‘ridiculous’ to expect Rodgers can juggle football and campaigning for the election at the same time.

It’s a fair demand considering he only played four snaps last season.
Lots of the Jets coaches and players want Aaron to commit to the team and worry about winning the Super Bowl over a chance to be in the White House. Aaron [Rodgers] can’t campaign through the week and then play the Dolphins the following weekend. It is ridiculous.
A source inside the Jets told DailyMail.com.
They also added that the 10-time Pro Bowler is free to choose whichever career path he sees fit once his contract with the Jets expires. In addition, the source took a backhanded dig at the veteran QB, saying that the team already had to put up with his ‘controversial takes.’ They are paying him to play football, lead the Jets to a Super Bowl, and not get involved with politics.
