Blake Lively poked fun at Ryan Reynolds‘ announcement that he planned to take a brief hiatus from acting that was shared to his Instagram on Saturday.
The 44-year-old actor uploaded shots from his upcoming film Spirited and wrote a lengthy message to let his fans know that, although he enjoyed working on the project, he was ready to take a bit of time off from film work.
The actress, 34, notably left a snide message in the comments section of the post where she referenced another actor’s proposed retirement: ‘Michael Caine did it first.’

Caine’s representatives recently told The Wrap that the actor was, in fact, not done with his acting career.
In his message, Reynolds pointed out that he was happy to have worked on the upcoming project and that he was grateful for the effort of his collaborators.
‘Perfect time for a little sabbatical from movie making. I’m gonna miss every second working with this obscenely gifted group of creators and artists,’ he said.
The Deadpool star further praised the talent of the feature’s cast and crew and expressed that he was very pleased to have been involved with them.

Lively and her husband are well known for their pleasure in taking lighthearted jabs at each other, which they often do through their respective social media outlets.
The two initially met while filming the 2011 superhero feature Green Lantern, in which they co-starred.

During the period, the actress was romantically involved with her Gossip Girl costar Penn Badgley, and Reynolds was married to his first wife, Scarlett Johansson.
The two both split from their exes in 2010 and were spotted together at various public events over the following year, which led to speculation about a possible romance between the pair.

The pair waited for two years before Lively announced that she was pregnant with the couple’s first child, and she went on to give birth to her eldest daughter, James, that December.
Reynolds and his wife later revealed that they were expecting to bring a second child into their lives in 2016, and they welcomed another daughter named Inez into their family that September.
The happy couple’s youngest child, Betty, was later added to their family in 2019.
