Madonna tried her hand at kayaking as she enjoyed some downtime during her lavish Caribbean getaway.

The singer, 65, took to her Instagram Stories to share an insight into her visit to St Barts, where she rang in the New Year with her longtime best pal Stella McCartney.

In the snaps, Madonna cut a sporty figure in a blue patterned rash vest and black shorts, which she styled with a black baseball cap.

She wore an orange life jacket as she was snapped trying out kayaking at nighttime on the picturesque island.

The kayaks lit up in different colours on their bases and were seen glowing in the sea as Madonna headed off for the nighttime trip out.

Madonna rang in the New Year in St Barts and shared snaps of herself and her designer pal Stella, 52, celebrating at a party.

The best friends appeared to be in jovial form as they posed wearing matching silver headbands with the words ‘Happy New Year’ across them.

Madonna looked incredible in a black leather corset which she teamed with a lace neck piece and bold sunglasses.

Meanwhile, the daughter of Sir Paul McCartney looked incredible in a black halterneck dress.

They were also joined by Madonna’s six children – Lourdes, 27, Rocco, 23, David, 18, Mercy, 17, and twins Stella and Estere, 11.

Stella previously admitted she was anxious when she first met the Material Girl singer.

She said: ‘I was running a bath and was totally unprepared. When she tried my clothes on, I told her she had a fat a**e. She laughed… and bought some.’

Over the years the friends have been spotted partying together and Stella was even maid of honour for Madonna at her wedding to Guy Ritchie in 2000 and designed her ivory strapless bridal gown.
