Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas arrive in Mumbai amid backlash over ‘wildly inappropriate and totally disgusting’ article on their ‘scam’ marriage. Sophie and Joe took to Twitter to criticize The Cut

They married over the weekend and the jet-set celebrations are continuing.

On Thursday Priyanka Chopra, 36, and her new husband Nick Jonas, 26, arrived in Mumbai, after their wedding reception in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The couple looked in good spirits despite a furor on Wednesday over a US magazine article slamming their marriage.

Priyanka looked stunning in yet another wardrobe winner for their arrival at Mumbai airport.

The newlywed chose a beautiful velvet and satin robe-style jacket in a deep red and blue, which she paired with sporty wide-legged trousers.

Priyanka was still sporting the elaborate henna decorations on her hands from her weekend wedding and she completed her look with a ruby red lip colour.

Negative press: The couple’s arrival in Mumbai comes as New York Magazine was met with furious criticism online, after its website The Cut published an article in which Priyanka was branded a ‘modern day scam artist’ who had conned Nick into marriage

Their arrival in Mumbai comes as New York Magazine was met with furious criticism online, after its website The Cut published an article in which Priyanka was branded a ‘modern day scam artist’ who had conned Nick into marriage.

The article, which has since been removed, was blasted on social media, with Nick’s brother Joe, and his Game of Thrones star fiancee Sophie Turner, leading the deafening outcry against it.

Another day, another city: The couple looked relaxed if a little tired after their flurry of celebrations this week and last

Sophie , 22, took to Twitter in the hours after the article was first shared to brand the controversial feature ‘wildly inappropriate and totally disgusting’, while voicing her horror that ‘The Cut would give anyone a platform to spew such bull***t’.

The British-born actress, who attended the wedding celebrations in India, was just one of thousands of people who pointed out the article’s 𝓈ℯ𝓍ist and racist tropes.

Charges leveled at Chopra, a Bollywood actor currently starring in the TV series Quantico, in the piece – which was headlined ‘Is Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’s Love for Real?’ – include being a ‘modern-day scam artist’, tricking Jonas into a ‘fraudulent relationship against his will’ and ‘thriving on being extra’ i.e. excessively dramatic.

Just married: The couple married in both Christian and Hindu wedding ceremonies over the weekend in Jodhpur, but an article from The Cut claims Priyanka conned Nick into marriage

Defense: Chopra’s brother-in-law Joe Jonas and his fiancee Sophie Turner (left) both slammed the controversial feature, branding it both ‘wildly inappropriate’ and ‘disgusting’

‘Disgusting’: Game of Thrones star Turner, 22, took to Twitter to criticize the article, slamming The Cut for giving its author a ‘platform to spew such bull****’

Horrified: Joe Jonas also called the The Cut ‘disgusting’ over its article on his brother’s wedding and relationship with Chopra

Joe joined his fiancee in voicing disgust at the piece, writing on his own Twitter account: ‘This is disgusting. @TheCut should be ashamed to have someone write such evil words. What Nick & Pri have is Beautiful Love. Thank u, Next.’

The Cut initially promoted their article with a tweet saying: ‘That’s right: Nicholas Jonas married into a fraudulent relationship against his will this past Sunday, December 1, and I’ll tell you why I think so.’

The tweet has since been deleted – but not before receiving a slew of angry replies from followers, and fans of the happy couple.

Rise above it: Joe Jonas tweeted his outrage over the article, while insisting that what Chopra and his brother (pictured with family at their wedding reception) have is a ‘beautiful love’

The Cut removed the article following the criticism saying it ‘did not meet our standards’
