Caitlin Clark-WNBA Accusation Sparks Major Debate

Caitlin Clark has struggled adjusting to life in the WNBA, with the Indiana Fever off to a winless start after three games. However, some couldn’t help but notice that rivals seemed to be hating on the rookie a bit too much.

Sports personality for Audacy, Trysta Krick, shared this observation following the Fever’s showdown with New York Liberty on Saturday. For those who missed it, Clark went viral after she was decked by Breanna Stewart–with the youngster clearly stunned as she fell down to her knees.

Krick mentioned that she feels like other WNBA players have an “animosity” towards Clark.

“In terms of Caitlin Clark… Is it just me or does it feel like the rest of the WNBA has EXTRA animosity for her? I know rookie hazing is normal but this feels different,” Krick wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

This statement, however, sparked plenty of debate among fans. While some agreed to Trsyta Krick, others mentioned that it’s normal for players with so much hype to get that kind of treatment. Basically, some argued that it is what comes with being one of the most anticipated players to come to the WNBA.

“They’re picking her up at 94 feet, face-guarding, top-locking, and hard-hedging her on almost every possession and Sides hasn’t even made her the primary ball handler. There’s some serious hazing energy from vets, for sure,” one commenter said.

Another one said, “Well said all the old women are consumed with jealously It’s actual embarrassing to watch They want to destroy the poor girl.”

Some WNBA fans disagreed, though, with one noting that “animosity” isn’t the right word to use.

“LeBron went through the same ish but he had a physical advantage over others. Pro players are going to test and go at ultra hyped talent especially a rookie that’s hyped,” a third follower responded to Krick’s post.

“The players are always gonna be like this towards someone people are crowning as the best, that’s fine, it’s competition. It’s the W supporters that are starting to get weird to me with how excited they get about her struggling & stuff,” a supporter furthered.

Are other WNBA players targeting Caitlin Clark and showing off some bad vibes? Or is it just a normal part of the competition? At the end of the day, though, Clark can only focus on herself and grow from the battle she’s experiencing.
