After praising Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, David Beckham joked that he would ‘get slaughtered’ by Manchester United fans.
The Inter Miami owner is a United icon, having won numerous trophies during his time at Old Trafford, where Sir Alex Ferguson’s club faced fierce competition from Liverpool.
During Beckham’s time at the club, United shattered Liverpool’s title hopes, but Klopp returned the Reds to the top of English and European football during his nine-year tenure at Anfield.
The German bid his final farewell to Liverpool on Sunday, with the club later appointing Feyenoord chief Arne Slot as his replacement.
Beckham has subsequently given his opinion on Klopp, admitting his ‘passion’ for the now-former Liverpool manager who won seven major titles in nine years.

Speaking on the Smartless podcast, Beckham hailed Klopp’s approach to football and labelled his effect on football as ‘incredible’.
‘Even as a Man United fan I love Jurgen. I love his character, his personality and what he brings to the sport,’ said Beckham.
‘I am going to get 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed by some of my Man United friends, I am sad to see him leave. What he has done for the club and the sport has been incredible,’ he added.
It was also put to Beckham that he should consider appointing Klopp at Inter Miami, but the former England captain rejected that notion, quipping: ‘We’ve not got much money left.’

Beckham, a Manchester United legend, quipped that some of his United colleagues would ‘murder him’ for complimenting Klopp.
Klopp stunned football in January when he revealed that he did not have the ‘energy’ to continue as Liverpool manager and would leave the club at the end of the season.
Fans begged the 56-year-old to reconsider his choice, but he adhered to his original announcement and finished his final game by defeating Wolves on the final day of the season.
Meanwhile, Mail Sport has discovered that Klopp will begin his sabbatical from football at a luxurious hotel in Majorca, where he will be able to keep track of the progress of his luxury property on the Balearic Islands.
Brendan Rodgers, another former Liverpool manager, and Robert Lewandowski, his former Borussia Dortmund striker, will be his neighbours.
