Billie Eilish had nothing but good things to say about ex Jesse Rutherford a year after their split.
The 22-year-old hitmaker said Rutherford, 32, was one of her “favorite people in the world” during an interview with Rolling Stone.
“That’s my guy,” she said of the rocker.
While Eilish has rarely spoken about Rutherford since their split, fans were quick to guess which songs he may have inspired on her new album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft.”
However, the “What Was I Made For?” singer told Rolling Stone the record was influenced by several different people and experiences, encouraging fans to refrain from playing the guessing game.
“As songwriters, our job is to write songs about whatever we feel that we want to write songs about,” she explained. “That’s my job. That’s why I’m here.”
She continued, “But the reaction can be really toxic, and I just don’t want to do anything to accentuate that. I want to be clear: Please don’t take it and run. Take it and feel it and sit there and understand and hear me.”
The pair split in May 2023 after less than a year of dating.
At the time, Eilish’s rep told us their breakup was “amicable” and any reports of cheating were “false.”
The nine-time Grammy winner, who recently revealed she is queer, also seemingly confirmed that she is currently single — and plans to stay that way for a while.
“I plan on never dating again,” she joked. “That’s not true, obviously. But no, I don’t see myself being serious with anyone until I find someone that really feels right to me, and that is not interesting to me right now.”
In her expansive interview with the outlet, Eilish explained that the process of creating her newest album helped her come to terms with her 𝓈ℯ𝓍uality.
The nine-time Grammy winner recently released her third studio album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft.”
She told the outlet that creating the record helped her come to terms with her 𝓈ℯ𝓍uality.
Specifically, “Lunch” — a song about having a crush on a girl — helped her step into her most authentic self.
“That song was actually part of what helped me become who I am, to be real,” she said. “I wrote some of it before even doing anything with a girl, and then wrote the rest after.”
“I’ve been in love with girls for my whole life, but I just didn’t understand — until, last year, I realized I wanted my face in a vagina,” the “lovely” singer further admitted.
