The former player for Real Madrid and Manchester United was seated next to AJ in Riyadh.
Among the VIPs ringside for Tyson Fury’s heavyweight fight against Oleksandr Usyk were Cristiano Ronaldo and Anthony Joshua.
Stars were spotted in Riyadh during the fight that took place in Saudi Arabia and made Usyk the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. This is the first time in about 25 years that a single fighter, Lennox Lewis, has held all the titles in the division.
Usyk was given scores of 115-112 and 114-113 by two judges, while Fury received a score of 114-113 from a third judge.
With a record of 22 victories from as many fights—14 by knockout and the remaining 8 by decision, including one against Fury—Usyk is still unbeaten.
Fury meanwhile now has 34 wins, a draw and a loss to his name.
There is the prospect of a rematch between the pair, which has tentatively been lined up for October.
Though there is a rematch in the contract, Fury himself cast doubt over what will happen next with no immediate decision made, and comments from his promotor Frank Warren in the post-fight press conference backed that stance up too.
Ronaldo was ringside in Riyadh, with the former Manchester United and Real Madrid attacker now of course plying his trade in Saudi Arabia.
Following his second departure from United in November 2022, Ronaldo moved to Al-Nassr and the Saudi Pro League.
He was sat next to Joshua, who has lost twice to Usyk with fights in 2021 and 2022, and AJ boasts a record of 28 wins and three losses from his 31 professional fights.
The 34-year-old was last in action in March, when he defeated Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia, with his last two fights being in the Middle Eastern nation, which has emerged as a major sporting destination through football, boxing and Formula 1, with a street race in Jeddah.
The pair were sat next to each other ringside in Riyadh, and part of what they discussed has emerged.
Ronaldo discussed his partner Georgina Rodriguez and her background.
He said: “My wife, she’s half Spanish and Argentinian, and she’s Latina.”
The pair have two living children together – after a third twin boy Angel tragically died in childbirth – and Rodriguez is stepmother to Ronaldo’s other three youngsters.
