Earlier this month, the rapper addressed the rumors that she and Offset had reconciled after splitting up for a brief period in December 2023.
While gracing the cover of Rolling Stone’s June issue, the performer did not hold back as she gave an update on the status of their relationship.
Despite saying she had been single ‘for a minute now’ during an Instagram Live in December, the mother-of-two, who has since been seen out on multiple date nights with her spouse, looked back on her first impression on him.
‘When I met Offset, he was super rich and I just got my f***ing first $200,000 in the bank,’ she recalled. ‘He never made me feel like I was little to him. He actually always used to tell me, “You a f***ing superstar, watch.'”

While discussing the challenges in her marriage, the performer admitted they both had their own shortcomings.
‘We have our own bad stuff,’ she said. ‘We’re from two different worlds. Sometimes I cannot be … not that I cannot be a wife. It’s just like, my career takes my life. You know what I’m saying? My career comes first, then my kids come second. And then sometimes I don’t realize that I’m putting so many things before my relationship.’
Still, the performer says she doesn’t ‘want to grow.’
‘I remember last year when we was going through our hard time. And it’s like, ‘Put your album out. You’re overstressing. When was the last time we went on a vacation?’ And it’s like, ‘I don’t got time to go on a vacation, because this comes first.’ This comes first and then my kids come second. The little things I have to take care of then comes. I sometimes feel like I do probably put my relationship last,’ Cardi stated.
When asked if she had made a decision about her relationship, the Grammy winner explained that she and Offset are ‘best friends.’
‘We think it through, because we do love each other. It’s not even about love. We’re best friends. And it’s like, “OK. Well, there was a time that I didn’t have a best friend, or I didn’t have a support system.” It’s not even about “How do you leave a partner?’ How do you stop talking to your best friend,”‘ she explained.

As for how she unwinds, Cardi revealed said she likes to spend her time off ‘at home.’
‘When I was off social media and nobody knew what I was doing, I was at peace a lot. But what am I going to do? Never post or never work again because that’s peace?’ she asked. ‘No. I don’t ever want my daughter or my son to ever give up on something because they can’t take the pressure of what people say about them. I got to set that example.’
She added that she still feels the need to ‘prove something’ to her kids and haters.
