Inside Oprah’s Maui farm: Green-thumbed billionaire offers a first-ever glimpse of her vast Hawaii estate

Oprah Winfrey has allowed her Maui ranch to be photographed for the first time in the new edition of O.

The media mogul owns about 780 acres of land on the island of Hawaii and the products grown on her land are donated by local people.

In an accompanying video, she said that getting the space for a farm was a ‘full circle moment because I grew up with a grandmother who was a farmer.

‘Everything that we ate came from our own little one acre,’ she said. ‘To be able to have a full circle moment with that, not in Mississippi, but in Maui, is fantastic. It’s like … jewelry that comes from the earth. I love it, just love it.’

The video also sees the star and friend and fitness expert Bob Greene describe how the idea for the farm came about.

‘We looked up on this hill and saw all these tiers,’ Bob said. ‘And both of us just love things that [in unison] come from the ground.’

Oprah continued: ‘It felt like we were not using the land to its ultimate potential and purpose and giving back to the people of the land, so right now, we’re growing all these vegetables.

Shared perspective: The media mogul and and her friend and fitness expert Bob Greene describe how they were both keen to use the land’s rich soil to its full potential

‘We tested our soil and enriched our soil and we have have some of the richest… I mean our soil is like chocolate around here.’

Bob added that they had noticed a ‘disconnect’ as 90per cent of produce that is consumed in the Hawaiian islands is actually imported.

He said that as of now all produce is given, yet they hope to begin selling it eventually sooner rather than later as well.

For sure, toward the end of last year, it arose that Oprah had reserved ‘Oprah’s Organics,’ for shower cleansers, sunscreen, knead oils, hair items, as well as natural plate of mixed greens dressings, frozen vegetables, soups, refreshments and bite plunges.

A delegate for Ms Winfrey told The New York Post at that point: ‘The brand names were petitioned for Oprah’s ranch on Maui to empower the homestead to develop and circulate produce on Maui and all through the Hawaiian Islands.’
