Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese recently spoke on the impact her former coach at LSU truly had on her. Reese spent time with Kim Mulkey in Baton Rouge after transferring from the Maryland Terrapins, playing two seasons with the Tigers.
“She’s not going to let you not be confident. She’s going to break you down before she builds you back up. She’s going to coach you hard, she’s going to tell you the things that you need to work on… I’m where I am right now because she coached me so hard,” said Reese via GeauxTigerHoops on X.
Reese and the Tigers won a National Title in her first season in Louisiana. During the 2023 season, Reese averaged 23 points and 15.4 rebounds, making a major jump from her previous season with the Terrapins, where she posted 17.8 points and 10.6 rebounds.

The Maryland native seems to believe that Mulkey had made a massive impact on her life. While Reese said it was difficult at times, Mulkey was only pushing the young star to be the best person on and off the hardwood.
Mulkey clearly wanted to create a strong individual who can overcome obstacles inside and outside of her frame of mind, and that’s exactly what Reese has developed into. After two legendary years with the Tigers, Reese is wreaking havoc in the WNBA, averaging 13.2 points and 11.1 rebounds with the Sky.
