Daniel Dubois, who has revitalized his career, hopes to earn ‘complete atonement’ by defeating Anthony Joshua in their IBF world heavyweight title fight on September 21 at Wembley Stadium.
Dynamite Daniel has back from losses to Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk with a hat trick of knockout wins, culminating in the shocking KO of Filip Hrgovic. This promoted him to full IBF world champion and gave Joshua the opportunity to become a three-time heavyweight king.
Daniel Dubois (pictured) has stated he will attain ‘complete redemption’ by defeating Anthony Joshua.
Dubois reflects: ‘The defeats have helped me mature as a man. Mature. Frank Warren, my promoter, has always believed in me and supported me through my journey from darkness to light. My father, too. We have the strongest possible link.
‘In a way, I’m pleased for the losses because they’ve helped me improve as a boxer.
‘That bodes well for my fight against Joshua. He’s an excellent boxer who has won numerous world championships. But I’m ready to be the future of British boxing because he’ll pull the best out of me. ‘I am buzzing.’
The two Brits will face off for the IBF heavyweight world title at Wembley Stadium in September of this year.
Joshua, meantime, has indicated that he intends to knock out Dubois and consign him to another loss.
Dubois understands that this battle will put his preparation for a second bout against Usyk, this time for the undisputed title, to the test.
He said, ‘While I regard AJ as a good boxer, I believe Usyk is unique. His punches and movements are slicker. He has something exceptional.
Despite their threatening verbal confrontation at the media launch for their bout, Joshua stated, ‘Daniel’s done well to recover from his setbacks. I believed he was a young man with a lot of potential ever since we sparred.
‘It feels odd for me now facing the younger man in his 30s but I still feel fresh in my 30s.
‘He’s a good fighter with a big punch. And despite what people said about him when he was stopped by Joyce and Usyk he’s proved his character. Especially when taking all those huge right handers from Hrgovic.
‘Whether he can take a hundred huge right handers from me is another matter. We’ll find out when I knock him out.’
