David Beckham stated that he knew he would be with his wife Victoria even before they met.

The renowned pair will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on July 4, and before of the event, the footballer has pondered on the first time he lay eyes on the Spice Girl.

David, 49, told The Sun that he first spotted Victoria, 50, in a Spice Girls music video and promised his Manchester United teammate Gary Neville that he would ‘be with her.’

He said, ‘I always promised Victoria that once I met her, I would be with her forever.

I traveled abroad with the England squad a few months before we met. Gary Neville and I were in our hotel room when the Spice Girls video came out.

‘I think it was Say You’ll Be There. I pointed at the screen and told him, ‘That’s the girl for me and I’m going to get her.

‘It was her eyes, her face. She’s my idea of perfection.’

Victoria shared similar insight, saying: ‘I fancied David long before we met.

‘I remember doing an interview for a soccer magazine and they showed me photos of different footballers.

‘I had no idea who he was, but I just remember thinking one word: Gorgeous.’

In 1997, David and Victoria met at a Manchester United football match, where he said ‘hello from across the room’.

Victoria described the meeting in a letter to her 18-year-old self in Vogue, writing: “While the other football players stand at the bar drinking with their mates, you will see David standing aside with his family.”

‘(He’s not even in the first team at this stage—you are the famous one.) And he has such a cute smile. You, too, are close to your family, and you will think how similar he feels to you.’

David and Victoria first met in 1997, when she came to watch him at a Manchester United football game and he said ‘hello from across the room’.

Meanwhile, during an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ show, David described the lovely moment: ‘She came to a football match—soccer match—and I said ‘hello’ from across the room, and that was it.

‘I thought I’d missed my chance, and then a week later she turned up at another football match. She had a few to drink, and she gave me her number.’

Soon after meeting, the couple went on their first date and were inseparable.

In January 1998, David and Victoria announced their engagement, just one year after meeting.

It was considered the definition of an A-List love story at the time, with David as one of England’s and Manchester United’s biggest talents and Victoria as a Spice Girl.

When asked about the proposal, Victoria said: ‘We’d already looked at a few rings, but I didn’t know which one he had picked. I had informed him about my fantasy ring. He remembered and had it manufactured specifically for me’.

David and Victoria Beckham welcomed their first child, son Brooklyn, just months before they married.

David and Victoria were an up-and-coming power couple when they married in 1999 after two years of dating.

The couple currently has four children: Brooklyn is 25, Romeo is 21, Cruz is 19, and Harper is 12.

David and Victoria’s marriage has persevered, with the England star stating in a 2017 interview that it took years to learn what he liked best about his wife.

In 2017, David also revealed that it took him years to figure out what he loved most about his wife.

On James Corden’s This Life Of Mine podcast, he stated: ‘Yes, she’s attractive and 𝓈ℯ𝓍y, but I enjoy the fact that she works hard. We’ve been together for 27 years, and we only recently realized how much we like each other.

‘It’s important to, after being together for so many years.

‘We can still have dinner and laugh and joke, or not say anything to each other, and that’s the important part of being in a relationship.

‘Having quiet moments with my wife and my kids and my family is the place where I’m happiest.’

The Beckhams have also ingeniously transformed their beloved family into an ever-expanding commercial and property empire.

According to The Sunday Times Rich List 2024, Posh and Becks have a combined fortune of £455 million.

David and Victoria have obviously never ceased supporting each other.

Through their various business ventures and accomplishments, the pair always publicly congratulates each other on major victories.

Victoria excitedly witnessed her current collection’s catwalk show during Paris Fashion Week in March.

David Beckham expressed his admiration for his wife, the fashion designer, on Instagram, as the Beckham empire expanded.

The former footballer gushed that he was’so proud’ of Victoria after she refused to allow her injuries or protestors derail her special night.

They also often share romantic moments from their lives with admirers on social media, which helps them maintain their status as one of the most talked-about power couples and even serves as a role model for others.

Speaking about their relationship to ELLE Spain in April, Victoria said: ‘My husband is an inspiration to me. Do we look like the couple seen in the Netflix documentary? Yes. We like to have fun, chat, dance, drink.

‘And laugh at each other. That’s what it takes to be happy. I believe a lot in laughter, family and friendship. I realize that we have become a model. People like to see relationships that last.’
