The Boys season 4 premiered on Prime Video on June 13, 2024, and fans believe that if Jared Padalecki returns for season 5, producer Erik Kripke will need to cast the final remaining Supernatural actor in a cameo role.
The Boys follows The Seven, a squad of rogue superheroes with celebrity status, as well as the titular anti-hero team, as they fight to put an end to their corrupt ways. Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), the major villain of Season 3, has yet to reappear in Season 4, despite Kripke stating that the actor could return because his character appeared briefly in the spin-off Gen V.
Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki portrayed Dean and Sam Winchester in Supernatural, and Jared Padalecki may appear in season 5 of The Boys. However, another actor from SPN has yet to be cast. Jared Padalecki’s sitcom Walker was canceled after four seasons on The CW owing to budget concerns, and he has indicated interest in appearing on The Boys. He called Walker’s cancellation a “tough piece of news,” but appears thrilled to reunite with his SPN co-stars, but audiences are still waiting for the missing member of the SPN trio to make his cameo.
If Jared Padalecki joins the team, the boys should cast Misha Collins.
Jared Padalecki may appear in The Boys, but his character has yet to be revealed.
Eric Kripke, the creator of both shows, has made several guest appearances for his Supernatural cast on The Boys. He cast Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Joe Kessler in Season 4 of The Boys, and Jim Beaver as Robert Singer. On SPN, both performers played key roles: Jeffrey Dean Morgan played the Winchesters’ father, John Winchester, while Jim Beaver played Bobby Singer, a supernatural hunter and mentor. With these other cameos, if Jared Padalecki joins The Boys, it only seems logical for Misha Collins, who played Castiel on Supernatural, to join as well.
Misha Collins had nine appearances on Supernatural, and his character Castiel had a strong bond with both Winchester brothers, particularly Dean. Castiel and Dean have featured in hundreds of episodes together, and Castiel’s character arc begins with him bringing Dean back from Hell in season 4. Misha Collins has now moved on to other roles, yet his portrayal of Castiel remains famous. Because he and Jensen Ackles have worked together for so long, it’s only fitting that Eric Kripke brings him into The Boys to meet Soldier Boy.
Actors joining The Boys would perfectly round out its supernatural cameos.
Misha Collins and Jared Padalecki are yet to appear in The Boys.
Jared Padalecki appears to be on okay with joining The Boys, telling Deadline before Walker’s season finale that he and Kripke had “already talked about a role” for him in season 5. However, nothing has been announced about Misha Collins joining the program. Casting Collins and Padalecki would complete the Supernatural cameos and delight fans of both SPN and The Boys. Casting begins much before filming, since Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s casting in season 4 was revealed in 2022, therefore there is no reason why the authors cannot create roles for both actors.
“Nevertheless, for now, Misha Collins and Jared Padalecki are free to join the cast since they aren’t attached to any other TV shows.”
Because the season is now airing, what the cast has teased about The Boys season 4 gives viewers no indication of who might appear in season 5, only that fresh cameos are possible. Nonetheless, Misha Collins and Jared Padalecki are available to join the cast for the time being because they are not scheduled to appear on any other television shows. The actors both appeared in shows that were canceled by The CW, with Misha Collins’ Gotham Knights ending after one season last year for similar reasons as Jared Padalecki’s Walker.
Casting Misha Collins in The Boys would compensate for his short-lived Gotham Knights role.
Misha Collins portrayed Harvey Dent until Gotham Knights was discontinued in June 2023.
With Gotham Knights season 2 not happening, Misha Collins’s joining The Boys would make sense to make up for his brief role on the superhero legacy show. Collins played Harvey Dent, a friend of Bruce Wayne’s and the District Attorney of Gotham City. After the show was canceled, he said on Instagram that he was, “incredibly bummed and selfishly disappointed,” to be unable to continue Harvey Dent’s story, but now he voices Jeremy Bradshaw in the audio thriller Consumed, alongside Jared Padalecki’s wife, Genevieve Padalecki.
It would not be difficult to write cameos for Misha Collins and Jared Padalecki in season five of The Boys, as many comic book characters can be adapted on-screen. Misha Collins, who recently worked on a superhero show, could easily play one of the comic book characters, as could Jared Padalecki, given his experience with Supernatural and screen testing for a Superman film. It’s unclear if Misha Collins and Jared Padalecki will return for season 5, but a reunion of the Supernatural ensemble on The Boys would be a fitting end to the Prime Video series.
