It has long been debated among boxing fans as to who would have won if Anthony Joshua and Frank Bruno fought in their primes.
Both men are widely considered to be two of the best British heavyweights of all time and have carved out great careers for themselves.
Boxing forums are filled with Joshua vs Bruno debates
Joshua is a two-time unified heavyweight champion with notable victories over Wladimir Klitschko, Joseph Parker and Alexander Povetkin.
Meanwhile, Bruno is a former WBC heavyweight champion, who famously won the world title at the fourth time of asking against Oliver McCall in a career-best showing at Wembley Stadium in 1995.
Most agree that AJ has a better resume but also acknowledge that Bruno, who competed as a professional between 1982 and 1996, fought in a stronger era.
In terms of how a fight would have played out between the heavyweight titans, it is far harder to gain a consensus viewpoint with boxing forums split down the middle.
Boxing fans may be divided on the outcome but Carl Froch has no doubt who would have got their hand raised if Joshua and Bruno ever fought at the peak of their powers.
“The Frank Bruno that fought Lennox Lewis in Cardiff back in the 90s… that Frank Bruno beats Anthony Joshua,” Froch told the BestOnlinePokerSites YouTube channel.
“I’m sorry but he just does. It’s just all about timing and you can’t hold that against Anthony Joshua.
“I know they call it heavyweight, but it’s very thin now. The landscape of heavyweight boxing. It’s not what it used to be.
Froch thinks Joshua wouldn’t have lost to Bruno in his prime
“I think if Anthony Joshua loses to Dubois, it could be the last we see of him.”
Froch and Joshua have been embroiled in a bitter feud for several years now.
The pair used to be friends and trained together under Rob McCracken when Joshua was an amateur and Froch was a young pro.
But their relationship turned sour after AJ split with McCracken following his first loss to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021.
Two weeks ago, Froch leaked messages he exchanged with Joshua after the Watford powerhouse had called him a ‘P***’ in an interview.
During a video on his Froch On Fighting YouTube channel, Froch described an interview Joshua gave at a press event ahead of his upcoming clash with Daniel Dubois: “He was asked, ‘Carl Froch – one word answer.’ And what did he say? He called me a p***k.
“So I went straight back at him like I’d go back at anyone who called me that.”
Froch and Joshua exchanged messages via WhatsApp, with ‘The Cobra’ subsequently challenging AJ to meet him in person to settle their feud ‘like men’.
