Caitlin Clark’s Team USA Snub Remarks Should Alarm WNBA Players

On Wednesday afternoon, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever will host the Washington Mystics in an Eastern Conference clash. The Fever look to hold on to the seventh seed in the WNBA playoffs with a win.

Before the game, Clark joined “The Wake Up Call with KB and Andy“ on 107.5 The Fan in Indianapolis and discussed her recent 2024 Paris Olympics snub. When asked how mad she was about not making Team USA, Clark gave an answer that should worry the WNBA.

“Honestly, I wasn’t really pissed. More than anything, it was a motivator. It gives you something to work for,” Clark said. “It doesn’t make me want to prove people wrong. It almost makes me want to prove to myself like I can do this. I can be there. I think the best thing about this for me is like it’s shown me a lot of ways I can grow, and I’ve already been able to do a lot of great things.”

In her first season in the WNBA, Clark was selected to the All-Star team and became the first WNBA rookie ever to record a triple-double.

“I just still feel like there is so many areas I can improve, and that makes me so excited,” Clark said. “Sure, I average whatever I average, but I still feel like there’s so many ways for me to get better. And that’s the most exciting part.”

Clark has already proven that her basketball s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s will translate from her college days with the Iowa Hawkeyes to the WNBA. As the season has progressed, she has improved. In four of the last five games, Clark has recorded a double-double. She had two in the previous 17 games.

Clark has enhanced a Fever team that was at the bottom of the WNBA standings last season. She has them in a position to make the playoffs for the first time in almost ten years. If she has found more motivation to get better, as she mentioned above, the WNBA should watch out.
