Between the Netflix docuseries, the recently released autobiography, and his appearance in several sit-down interviews, Prince Harry has been telling his side of all the royal drama. In a new interview, Prince Harry admits that he is worried about his nephews and niece — Prince William and Kate’s kids — specifically worried that one of them will “end up” like him.

Specifically, Harry shared that he was worried other members of the family would end up having a similar situation that he’s had over the past six years.

“As I know full well, within my family, if it’s not us,” Harry shared, “it’s going to be someone else.”
And he’s worried that “someone else” might eventually become now 9-year-old Prince George, 7-year-old Princess Charlotte, or 4-year-old Louis.

“And though William and I have talked about it once or twice, and he has made it very clear to me that his kids are not my responsibility,” Harry explained.
But that’s been hard for him to accept because the concern is real to him.
“I still feel a responsibility knowing that out of those three children, at least one will end up like me,” he said.

“That hurts,” Harry admitted, “that worries me.”
In Harry’s book, Spare, he goes into great detail on how that title has followed him since the day he was born. And how the dynamic it created was damaging to his relationship with Prince William.
“The Heir and the Spare — there was no judgment about it, but also no ambiguity. I was the shadow, the support, the Plan B,” Harry wrote.
“I was summoned to provide backup, distraction, diversion and, if necessary, a spare part. Kidney, perhaps. Blood transfusion. Speck of bone marrow. This was all made explicitly clear to me from the start of life’s journey and regularly reinforced thereafter.”

With the release of his book, which contains some different information about the family than was portrayed in British tabloids, Harry is hopeful that things can start to change. And despite what some people may think, including those in his family, Harry didn’t set out to tattle on the family, he simply wanted to share his side, with his own words.
“I always say: ‘What’s the difference between airing lies about your family through the British press, or airing truth through a book?’” Harry shared.
“In my case, this is all contained in one place where I hold myself entirely accountable and responsible for what I am saying.”
