In 2021, he stated that he will ‘truly never get over’ the grief of losing his two siblings and a brother-in-law.

Luke was just 19 and planning his relocation to Nashville to pursue a country music career when he lost his older brother Chris to a car crash.
As a result he waited a couple of years to make the move to Nashville and instead remained at the family peanut farm to offer them his support.
His mother LeClaire told ABC News years ago during a 20/20 profile of her son: ‘We knew Luke at some point would come to Nashville. But…you can’t leave your family, and…I couldn’t bear the thought of him being away.’
Years after Luke became a star his family had to undergo the loss of his sister Kelly who died suddenly and mysteriously of natural causes in 2007.
Then, seven years later Kelly’s husband Ben also died, prompting the couple’s 13-year-old son Til to move in with Luke and his wife.

‘It’s every day on the phone all day trying to talk with the family and figure out what to do, but it’s what you gotta do. Tough stuff,’ Luke told ABC.
‘You know, we just stay positive. I think people expect that from me. I have to pray that people that have had similar situations can maybe look at my family and see me positively dealing with it. I’m not saying it’s easy.’
In his interview he also made sure to ‘thank God I’ve always been a pretty joyous person’ and shared that positivity was a conscious decision amid his losses.
‘Maybe Chris and Kelly and Lee have moved some puzzle pieces around to make my life so fortunate. When I say my prayers at night, I have to say: ‘Thank y’all for looking after us down here,” he told the magazine.
