It was also reported at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 that Chace Crawford will join ‘Gen V’ for season two.
Soldier Boy’s adventures will continue even after the fifth and final season of The Boys concludes.
Jensen Ackles, who plays the super-powered character, announced during the Friday, July 26 panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 that he will reprise his role in a prequel series called Vought Rising. The series will be “a lurid pulp prequel set in New York City at the dawn of the ’50s about the humble beginnings of the Vought Corporation.”

Aya Cash, who portrayed Stormfront on The Boys, will also revisit her role for the spinoff.
“I am so excited about this,” Cash said in a video that played onstage, joking that she was “cold-calling” Ackles’ apartment. “I’m dedicated to the family of The Boys. I think this thing is gonna be incredible. We’ve got everything from Judy Garland to Joe McCarthy. How? I don’t know, I didn’t write it. But I have read it, and it’s really really good. So I hope you’ll come with us on this journey.”

In a press release, The Boys’ showrunner Eric Kripke and executive producer Paul Grellong described the new show as “a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought.”
“We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V,” the pair added.
Elsewhere during the panel, it was announced that Chace Crawford will appear in Gen V’s second season, reprising his role as the Deep, joining other actors who have crossed over from The Boys, including Jessie T. Usher, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit and P.J. Byrne.

During the premiere of The Boys’ fourth season in June, Kripke confirmed that season 5 would be the popular show’s last. “Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought. Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter)with a nod to the evil corporation at the center of his series.
Although no new actors are confirmed for season 5, Kripke shared that he hopes to continue casting actors from his previous show, Supernatural. The showrunner told Variety in May 2024 that he hopes to bring in Jared Padalecki, who starred on Supernatural as the series lead, monster hunter Sam Winchester, for The Boys season 5.

“He’s been busy the last few years, so schedules haven’t worked out … But now, unfortunately, [Walker] got canceled — but the good thing is he’s free,” Kripke said. “And I feel like I have to complete my game of Supernatural Pokémon and I have my one big one — very big one — left to catch.”
The Boys season 5 is expected to continue the vigilantes’ quest to expose supposed heroes like Homelander for abusing their power. Considering that the plot of The Boys always parodies real-world sociopolitical and pop culture events, it is likely that the 2024 Presidential election will play a large part in influencing the plot of season 5.
Kripke previously opened up about how the show and its spinoff Gen V draw on real-world events to influence the series’ direction.
“The Boys and their spinoffs, none of them are really superhero shows,” Kripke told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024. “They have the suits and powers, but The Boys is a show about celebrity politics and late-stage capitalism.”
