After the sensational Season 4 finale of The Boys, fans are wondering when the fifth and final chapter of the series will come out. Nathan Mitchell, who portrays both Black Noir and his replacement in the show, gave updates on the filming schedules and potential storylines of Season 5.
Black Noir actor teases when The Boys Season 5 begins filming
In a recent interview, Mitchell stated that he had heard “inklings” about when the filming for Season 5 could start but didn’t provide any additional information.
Mitchell told The Direct, “I’ve heard inklings, but hopefully, we head back. I don’t know if I can officially say when we go back.” However, he indicated that the production would start “relatively soon.” “And the writers are cooking up some great stuff. So they are in the kitchen. And they’re baking up some crazy shit,” he added.
Notably, filming for Season 4 began in August 2022, about a month after the Season 3 finale was released.
Nathan Mitchell on Black Noir’s story in The Boys Season 5
Mitchell revealed in the same interview that he spoke to series creator and showrunner Eric Kripke about what was in store for his character, and Kripke’s answer filled him with excitement.
“I have had a conversation with Eric about what Season 5 is going to be, and I’m so excited,” Mitchell said. “I had a few ideas, but when he came in, he was like—the second he told me what he was planning, I was like, ‘Oh, my God, that is my dream.’ I’m so happy we get to explore that,” he further stated.
The Ginny & Georgia actor also spoke about what he hoped his character would do in season 5. “There are so many limitations to this role. So, I want to see how he fights against those limitations,” Mitchell revealed. For him, this includes Black Noir rebelling against Homelander.
Interestingly enough, toward the end of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s original comic book series, Black Noir reveals himself as a direct clone of Homelander and 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s him.
As for the ending of The Boys, Mitchell claimed he hadn’t been informed about it. “They have not told me that. I know they’re working it out, but no, they’ve kept it pretty close,” he explained.
