Popcaan ordered the music of Kendrick Lamar to be turned off out of loyalty to Drake.

Popcaan‘s loyalty to Drake went on full display when a Kendrick Lamar song made its way into a conversation he was having recently.

The dancehall singer has been signed to Drizzy’s OVO Sound imprint since 2016, so his ties with the Toronto-bred superstar run deep. Backstage at his Unruly Fest earlier this month, Pop made it clear how he feels when a Kendrick track started playing in the background.

While chatting with with Link Up TV, Pop suddenly halts the convo as he looks up in pure disbelief that the song is playing.

“I don’t care. I don’t wanna hear that. Change the station,” he said.

The moment happens around the one-minute mark below.

This isn’t the first time Popcaan has stood 10 toes down for Drake.

Following the release of VIEWS, Mr. Vegas called Drizzy “fake” for not properly crediting the dancehall artists he featured on the album, including Beenie Man and Popcaan himself.

“Why did Drake link Beenie Man to on sing back that record if that’s the one he wanted? Or why let Beenie Man do something new?” Vegas asked during an interview with Ebro In The Morning at the time. “So then I’m listening to the record further and at the end of the record when the record done, you can hear the record fin, Beenie Man doing the outro. So I’m like, Drake is rampaning my artists. You using my artists as intro men.”

Mr. Vegas was referencing “Controlla,” which includes a Beenie Man sample from his song, “Tear Off Mi Garment.” A leaked version of the song also included Popcaan, though it didn’t make the final cut of the album. A sample of Poppy’s “Luh Yuh Bad” did make “Too Good” with Rihanna, however, and both dancehall artists are credited on the respective songs.

In a since-deleted response, Popcaan pledged allegiance to his OVO clique and assured Mr. Vegas that his help wasn’t needed.

“OVO Unruly, we don’t need your help. Don’t try to violate my brother now,” Poppy said. “You don’t know anything about Unruly or OVO. You don’t need to defend Popcaan.”
