Russell Wilson is a proud stepdad.
Even before tying the knot with Ciara last month, 27-year-old Wilson has bonded with the singer’s 2-year-old son, Future Zahir. And, now, the NFL star is proud to take on a new role with the toddler.
“She has a little man, he’s awesome and cute as can be. A little 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 Future. Such a special, special kid. I think about him, and being a stepdad. I’m a stepdad now,” the Seattle Seahawks player told Maria Shriver on her Architects for Change web series.
“When I see this kid, he’s only 2 years old … He’s so sweet and so loving, always has a smile on his face. Always joking around, always running around the house.”
He added: “The important part about loving somebody — especially as a man, being a stepfather in a situation where it’s a little bit different, you know, for sure — but ultimately, it’s about loving the child because the child has the opportunity to do something amazing in his life.”
Ciara was formerly engaged to rapper Future, who is little Future’s father. The two split in 2014 and the singer began dating Wilson in 2015.
Ciara and Wilson have been immersed in newlywed bliss since exchanging vows in a private wedding, and a source told E! News that the pair don’t plan on adding to their blended family any time soon.
“They haven’t talked more about wanting kids, but they both want to start a new family together,” E! News reports.”They are focused on their respective careers right now.”
