Dolphins Urged to Bring Back $118 Million QB After Tua Tagovailoa Concussion

Tua Tagovailoa was hurt in the team’s loss to the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night.

The Miami Dolphins are likely in need of quarterback assistance after Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion during their recent game against the Buffalo Bills. This incident has sparked discussions about the potential return of a familiar face to lead the team.

Tagovailoa sustained the injury during a third-quarter scramble in Thursday’s 31-10 loss to the Bills. While attempting to secure a first down, he dove forward and collided with Bills safety Damar Hamlin, hitting the turf hard. The team’s medical staff quickly attended to Tagovailoa before he was taken to the locker room for further evaluation.

Following the assessment, it was confirmed that Tagovailoa had suffered a concussion, marking his third concussion in as many NFL seasons. With the possibility that he could miss significant playing time, former Dolphins starter Ryan Tannehill has emerged as a top candidate to fill the void.

Tannehill remains a free agent after concluding his four-year, $118 million contract with the Tennessee Titans. Should the Dolphins decide to explore the quarterback market, many believe Tannehill would be their first call.

“Ryan Tannehill is the best free agent QB available,” noted reporter Andrew Siciliano in a post on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after Tagovailoa’s injury. Another user chimed in, expressing, “There is nothing I’d like to see more than Ryan Tannehill return to the Dolphins without Adam Gase and make a run to the playoffs.”

Alternatively, the Dolphins could opt to stick with Skylar Thompson, who took over in relief of the injured Tagovailoa during the game. Thompson also started two games in the 2022 season while Tagovailoa was sidelined due to a concussion.

As the Dolphins navigate this challenging situation, the next steps will be crucial in determining their quarterback strategy moving forward. With the season in full swing, the team will aim to secure their position in the standings while addressing the immediate need at quarterback.
